Description

A charming, traditional Purbeck cottage originally built in the 1800s as part of a row of cottages for stonemasons working in the local quarries. The cottage has been sympathetically renovated over the years and retains plenty of period charm with the benefits of modern living.

Downstairs the cosy living room has comfortable seating, a traditional fire place with the convenience of an electric fire and views towards Ballard Down. The kitchen/diner has all you need for a family of four and leads through to a large boot room with storage space, downstairs bathroom and stable door leading to the rear courtyard garden.

Upstairs are two well-presented bedrooms, the master bedroom at the front overlooks the town and benefits from sea views whilst at the rear there’s a twin bedroom.

Situated in an elevated position above Swanage High Street but tucked back from the hustle and bustle, the town centre and sandy beach are within a 10-minute walk. The cottage can be accessed from the High Street via an original set of stone steps, or for a flatter route from the rear of the property using the back road.

There’s a small front garden laid to grass; although it has shared access with the neighbouring cottages, the owners have thoughtfully gated it to allow a sense of privacy and for the benefit of any four-legged guests.

A stable door leads out to a small but pretty rear courtyard with seating and shared access to a neighbouring cottage. A gated path leads out to Priests Road with on street parking.

Please note due to the nature of being a traditional cottage, the stairway is narrow and steep and therefore unsuitable for children under the age of 5 and those with reduced mobility. If in doubt, please call the office to discuss.

Reviews

Fantastic location that is easily walkable to town, even with young kids. Cottage is tidy, clean and comfortable. Stairs are quite steep but manageable. Having a small secluded garden that faces views of the bay and hills was great. Nice and light throughout

Mr Z,

Good location, comfy and warm. 2 mins from Black Swan pub which did the most amazing meals I've ever had. Need to book in advance though as it's now more eatery than pub. No traffic noise at all, comfy bed, just a nice well laid out Cottage. We'll be back !!

Mrs G,

Amazing cottage, we had an amazing holiday there, very comfortable and everything you require is there. Loved the garden at the front, sat out there a lot relaxing. The dog also loved the outside space. We will definitely be back.

Mr S,

My daughter and I cannot fault Sparrow Cottage in any small way! We thought it was excellently equipped and a fab place to stay with views from the bedroom and short walk to the town. Perfect!

Mrs S,

We had a great week in Sparrow Cottage, helped by the sunny weather we had all week. We absolutely loved exploring the area - definitely worth a visit. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. The stairs are steep though, and the bathroom is downstairs, which wouldn't suit everyone. It's about a 10 minute walk down to the sea in Swanage, making it a convenient location for getting to the pier, beach etc.

Mrs B,

Amazing stay at Sparrow Cottage. We were very happy there for the week, it was well equipped and a very comfortable stay with lovely neighbours. Sad to leave and hope to return.

Mrs H,

Great location. Exceptionally small cottage with steep stairs and downstairs bathroom. Swanage its self was wonderful.

Miss D,

Lovely cosy cottage. A home from home with a few plusses! Great views and a short scientific walk to the sea front.

Mrs S,

A lovely stay at Sparrow Cottage. Clean, comfortable with e writhing you need for a break away from home. Would recommend.
