Maltsters Studio provides a perfect cosy retreat for a couple looking for a Cornish break, complete with a sweet courtyard garden. Maltsters Studio is handily located between Padstow (only 2 miles) and the market town of Wadebridge (5 miles), in the pretty village of Little Petherick, just opposite the 12th century church. The studio is very handy for the pretty and historic town of Padstow, only a 2 mile walk along the Saint's Way - with its delightful pubs, restaurants, galleries and shops and the unspoilt harbour - still used by the local thriving fleet of inshore fishing vessels who mainly fish for lobsters and crabs. Just a short step or two from your front door is Little Petherick Creek and the Saints' Way, an ancient trail which dates back over 1,500 years... now a great favourite with walkers providing fantastic views along the river estuary and is also rich in wildlife. Within less than a mile there are two pubs and The Journeyman Restaurant but even closer is The Old Mill House Bistro, just a 1 minute walk. The owners are very welcoming and live in the house next to the property.

Reviews

Perfect location for exploring North Cornwall, especially Padstow. The property is very clean and tidy. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful week in Cornwall especially my dog who loved the beaches.

Mrs J,

Lovely retro feel , great base location for visiting nearby beaches and towns, good dog walks and local pub in St Issey very friendly good food and reasonable, nothing was too much trouble for the owners.

Mrs M,

It was a lovely little cottage just needs slight updating, the outside space was ok for a little dog not ideal for an escape artist as very close to main road but on the whole really enjoyed our stay the hosts were lovely couple

Mrs Tracy D,

This accommodation was warm, comfortable and cosy and while fairly compact (it is a studio apartment as advertised) had everything to hand. It seems crazy to need to mention but we were able to relax instantly at this property because it was a rarity in that everything worked properly. The wifi was good, the TV was tuned in with working DVD player, the cooker was fully functional, the shower pressure was just excellent and very hot and the refrigerator was high quality and very quiet. Pots, pans and dishes were all high quality and clean. The owner did have to come over to fix a leak on Sunday evening, but was happy to do so and very friendly. The area itself is straight out onto beautiful walks with plenty of winter activities also within a 25-35 minute drive and is well situated amongst amenities with several pub/restaurants nearby, but check for opening times as these were not open on our winter break. An excellent base for our holiday. Many thanks to the owners!

Mrs Jenny G,

I loved staying at this cottage studio tucked away in a small, cornish village - a gem of a location for single travellers with a small furry friend. The location is so peaceful, discretely tucked to the side of the owners house yet independent in every way.. own front door gate, and even small courtyard for coffee. The perfect hosts nothing was too much for the studowners if asked otherwise you wouldn't know or notice they lived next door. Enjoyed lie ins, dog walks, and the warmth of this cottage provided by underfloor heating wow. Even a winter break is a pleasure here. Thank you for a time of bracing walks and beach delights that was made all the better by a place that I could really feel at home in the prettiest location. Thoroughly enjoyed!!

Ms C,

The property was very clean and homely and excellent for good walks and visiting Padstow , the owner’s were lovely , due to an emergency we had to visit Truro hospital and they kindly looked after our dog which was a massive help under the circumstances . I would definitely recommend.

Mrs P,

Location

Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations - a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth.  If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin.  If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.
