Description

Standing proud on the grounds of a former outbuilding, The Green Shed is a newly constructed modern one bedroomed brick and timber lodge on the outskirts of Sudbourne and Orford and has been thoughtfully designed and furnished to provide memorable self-catering holidays in the heart of the Suffolk coastline. Completed in 2019, The Green Shed really is a spacious holiday home for two. The open plan living area features wrap around French doors to two sides,  flooding the area with natural light, and providing fantastic views of the surrounding farmland. The oak staircase leads up to the large first floor bedroom, which again does not compromise on size. High, vaulted ceilings slope down at the sides, where you can dream of lying in the king size bed and admiring the beautiful view from the Juliet balcony.

Every element has been considered in this thoughtful build. The fitted open plan shaker kitchen is well-equipped with butler sink, fridge/freezer, dishwasher  and washing machine, whilst the property also enjoys both an en suite shower room and ground floor cloakroom.  Although not enclosed, The Green Shed has a small garden area with lawn and patio, as well as a lovely covered veranda; an ideal spot for watching the sun go down, or simply sitting and looking at the stars.

The Green Shed is part of a beautiful trio of properties, with Lodge Farm Cottage (sleeps 4) and Lodge Farm Barn (sleeps 4) making it an ideal destination for group or family holidays.

The joy of The Green Shed is its location.  Surrounded by open fields and situated on a family property, it offers holidaymakers a true mix of coast and countryside. A plethora of footpaths can be found close by and short a short walk takes you to the centre of Orford in approximately 20 minutes. Cyclists and nature lovers will enjoy exploring this delightful area and learning about its rich historical connections, be it at Orford Ness, Bawdsey Radar or Sutton Hoo. Not forgetting, the fantastic year round music programme and events to be appreciated at Snape Maltings, just a short distance by car.

So to enjoy a holiday in this deceptively spacious space, we recommend booking without delay!  Pub: 1.1 miles, Shop: 1.1 miles.

Why we love this property: The Green Shed is the perfect mix of space and quality; it beautifully combines 21st century modern day essentials with wonderful views to make it a truly captivating and memorable space.

Reviews

A perfect location surrounded by wildlife and with far reaching views. Clean and comfortable and very quiet! This was our second visit and we are probably going to book for 2024. Lots to do in South Suffolk. Orford has pubs, seafood, bread, meat and groceries, plus 3 good pubs. It also boasts a castle! The owners of accommodation great hosts.

Mrs B,

Very comfortable and well equipped property in lovely surroundings

Mr M,

We loved the quiet location of the Green Shed and the views from the lounge and patio area over open countryside. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Owner sent us a text when the cottage was ready so we were able to arrive an hour early, which was appreciated. She had also provided a nice starter pack of local produce. We have had a number of holidays in Suffolk and will come back to the Green Shed if we are able to as it is an excellent cottage in a good location.

Mr J,

The Green Shed is perfectly situated to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside along with all its abundant wildlife. The views from all of the windows are gorgeous. There was a wonderful, and very useful, welcome pack which meant we didn't have to dash to a shop. The Green Shed is excellently equipped and spotlessly clean and a lovely place to return to after a day out. It is an easy walk into Orford where the very well stocked general store has good opening hours. The owners of The Green Shed are really friendly. Not intrusive at all but there to chat to or if any questions or queries need answering. An absolutely excellent escape that is difficult to leave, we thoroughly recommend The Green Shed to anyone who likes peace, quiet, open country views and wildlife.

Mrs H,

Equipment: TV-needs re-tuning to find BBC1 on main channel - eventually found it on a 900 channel; a pint glass for beers would be good; better hanging arrangements for clothes although room limitations noted. Otherwise well-equipped, thanks. Cleanliness: Utensils and oven trays had not been checked- greasy and not properly washed-up from previous use e.g. colander in drawer and baking sheet in oven; dusty surfaces with dead flies/spiders on floor and in corners would suggest that the property had not been used in previous week or two so should have had a further sweep round before our arrival. Thank you for welcome goods-much appreciated. Details of local walks available and up-to-date leaflets on visitor attractions would add value to the welcome. Although with the local wildlife to watch, who needs to leave the property?!

Mrs Ruth L,

Such an amazing location. Really peaceful, and relaxing. We loved our stay at the Green Shed. The accommodation was lovely, and the hosts were very welcoming too. Even though this is in a lovely rural setting, you aren’t too far away from lovely towns / villages / beeches / pubs etc so there is always something to see and do. One of the nicest properties that we have ever stayed in, and highly recommend it

Miss S,

Clean and very comfortable property in beautiful, quiet location. Appointed as anticipated and welcome pack was appreciated. Only suggestions would be the provision of a no-slip mat for in the shower, a further set of drinking (water/beer) glasses and a whisk. Thankyou to the owners for a very pleasant stay.

Mrs Janet W,

The Green Shed was absolutely lovely and the wildlife on view through the windows was mesmerising. We had never seen so many hares before. The property was about a mile walk north of Orford along quiet lanes, perfect for the pubs and restaurants in the village. The property did just want it said on the tin, it had everything we needed for a week's stay. Great location for lots of lovely days out. Do visit Orford Ness if you can. Orford Castle and also Sutton Hoo are also great. We had a really enjoyable time on our first visit to Suffolk.

Mrs M,

Really lovely property surrounded by fields. Well equipped and clean. We appreciated the welcome pack which included some home made jam. Our dog loved it too and all the dog friendly places we visited. Would definitely stay again if in this area.

Mrs S,

A perfect rural idyll with extensive footpaths and bridal ways. It has a beautiful orange roofed church nestled in against a wooded background. Only a 25 minute walk from Orford and its ancient buildings with the ferry at the quay across to the 'Ness',(after April ). Open vista's with deer, hares (boxing in March) and owls hooting at night. Just perfect.

Mr H,
