Stoke Fleming on the South Devon coast is a stunning holiday destination just a few miles from the River Dart and Dartmouth. As Stoke Fleming is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the South West Coast Path, there’s certainly no shortage of dog-friendly walks in the area. One of the best and the most challenging is the 15-mile walk along Start Bay, beginning at Start Point in the south and ending at Warren Point in the north. Start Point is a particularly interesting local landmark, as it holds the title as one of the most jagged and dangerous peninsulas on the British coast. Having been documented as a notoriously rocky point since the Anglo-Saxon era, Start Point is one of South Devon’s most exciting natural landmarks and is definitely worth a look - at a safe distance of course!

Blackpool Sands is also nearby and is an award-winning family-friendly beach that is perfectly sandy and inviting. The sea is extremely safe to swim in and in the summer months, you may even want to hire a kayak or stand-up paddleboard to explore the waters here. The Venus Beach shop is also open in Summer and sells everything you could need for a beach day, from inflatables and buckets and spades to locally sourced food and drink and parasols. Awarded Blue Flag status, Blackpool Sands is impeccably clean, so you can rest assured that you’ll have a great experience here. 

Though Stoke Fleming is small, it does boast a nice array of shops and eateries for you to enjoy. Radius 7 at Leonards Cove is a restaurant in Stoke Fleming that is a particular highlight. It was founded on the principle of delivering local food and drink to its guests and has an impressive menu, al fresco dining and seasonal dishes.
