Holiday Cottages in Lancashire

From the North West Coast to the border of the Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire is a county that sprawls across Northern England in all its glorious rugged beauty. Home to hundreds of parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, some of Britain’s most iconic seaside spots and old mill towns, Lancashire makes for a great holiday destination.

Our Lancashire Holiday Cottages are located right across this splendid county, from the Forest of Bowland AONB to the coast near Lytham St Annes and Blackpool. We have a range of properties near Bolton, which is just a 10-mile journey outside Manchester, for those who fancy a day trip to Lancashire’s biggest city. If you want to do a spot of cross-border exploration between Lancashire and Yorkshire, then check out our cottages in Dutton and Cowling.

Location isn’t the only thing to consider when booking a holiday. Our Lancashire self-catering cottages sleep anywhere from two to 12 guests, making them perfect for solo travellers, couple’s retreats, lowkey weekends away with friends and big family gatherings alike.

We have a range of luxury cottages in Lancashire, which have been hand-picked by our team of local experts. If you’re looking for a cottage with those extra special features, such as a hot tub, swimming pool or garden, then look no further than our Luxury Cottages in Lancashire. If it’s a dog-friendly cottage you’re after, then you are in luck as many of our Lancashire homes are also pet-friendly. Some of our Dog-Friendly Cottages in Lancashire also fall into our luxury category, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Things to Do in Lancashire

Many of our Lancashire Holiday Cottages fall within the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Forest covers 803 square kilometres of Lancashire and part of North Yorkshire and is a scientifically significant area. It is home to a number of rare and endangered species which thrive on its heather moorland and blanket bog habitats. Species including hen harriers, golden plovers, merlins and snipes, brown hares, a variety of bats, moths and bumblebees can be spotted here, making it a haven for lovers of the great outdoors.

Beacon Fell Country Park is another area of Bowland and is on the southern edge of the AONB. The park is named after the fell that stands here, which is an impressive 266 feet tall - definitely one to add to any walker’s bucket list! Beacon Fell also has an interesting history and is named after the beacon that stood here in the 1580s, which would warn of invasion from the Spanish Armada. Nowadays, you don’t have to look out for the armada, but you can enjoy views as far as Morecambe Bay and even the Isle of Man atop the fell. There is also a visitor site and car park at the foot of the hill.

Other popular walking routes, all of which are pet-friendly, in Lancashire include Nicky Nook Fell and Whitwell Stepping Stones, which is part of a longer eight-mile circular route across the River Hodder. For those who love walking and history, make a trip to Pendle Hill part of your holiday in Lancashire. This was the site of the famous witch trials of 1612 and you can walk on the Trough of Bowland, a pass which reaches almost 300 metres above sea level and was the route taken by the ‘witches’ on route to their trial at Lancaster castle.

If you’re a fan of the coast, we highly recommend a trip to Lytham St Annes, a Victorian seaside resort that is simply a delight. Although Lytham and St Annes are separate villages, they are so close together that their names have been combined. Lined with independent shops, a royal golf course and a sandy beach, this little seaside spot just two miles from Blackpool is a great place to while away a few hours.

For more seaside fun, be sure to plan a trip to Blackpool too, where you can choose between wild rides at the Pleasure Beach, afternoon tea and dancing up Blackpool Tower, or a trip to one of many amusement arcades on the promenade. If you’re visiting during the Autumn months, you can enjoy the bright lights of Blackpool Illuminations. Our cottages in Poulton le Fylde put you in a prime location for exploring this part of the Lancashire coastline.

Rich history, stunning countryside and traditional seaside fun await you in Lancashire, so trust in us and book your Lancashire Holiday cottage with us today.
