Have you ever wondered what our team get up to? Amy, our Property Manager has shared with us her typical day in the life.
I absolutely love being a Property Manager! My job is so varied, interesting and challenging and its quite hard to put into words what a typical day is for me as every day is so different. I look after the properties in Weymouth, Bridport and the surrounding areas so I get to spend a lot of my time out of the office in one of the most beautiful parts of the south coast.
My typical day would start by getting up super early and walking my cocker spaniel along the beach, he loves going for a swim in the sea and getting the wind in his ears! The early morning walk really helps me focus and sets me up for my working day.
The best part of the job is going out to new property enquiries, it is so nice to meet new homeowners, have a look around beautiful holiday cottages and have a chat over a cup of tea. The next step which I am involved in is taking photos of the properties which is really challenging but so rewarding and brings out my creative side. I also write up the property descriptions which feature on the website, a lot of our older cottages have a rich history which I always try and focus on when I write the description, it makes the properties memorable!
The other part of my role is to attend local events and network with local businesses, we have built up great relationships with local estate agents, and we attend lots of large events throughout the year such as Dorset County Show, Melplash Show and the Poundbury Food and Arts Festival. These events are great fun and are fantastic for promoting Wyke Dorset Cottages, plus we get to have a bit of time away from the stand to have a mooch around ourselves!
In the evenings after work, I try to get to the gym for a circuit or spinning class, this really helps me relax after a busy day and means I can enjoy the odd doughnut (or two)! I also love cooking a meal with my fiancée and talking about our wedding plans for when we get married next year.
The best part of my job is knowing that the properties we look after are going to be destinations where so many families and friends make memories that will last forever!
