Description

A majestic and elegant town-centre property with a fabulous choice of amenities on the doorstep. This is the perfect retreat for families or a group of friends looking for a coastal getaway. The house lies behind St Fimbarrus Church in the heart of Fowey, just a few hundred metres from the yacht club and the bustling harbourside and below the magnificent Grade I-listed Place House. Protected by a narrow harbour entrance between two castles, Fowey remains largely unspoiled, with narrow winding streets lined by plenty of interesting shops, galleries, deli/cafes and restaurants. The sandy beach at Readymoney Cove offers sheltered swimming and stunning views across to Polruan with access to the coast path. Water sports are popular in Fowey and walkers will delight in the circular Hall Walk. A foot ferry from the quay takes you to Polruan, or the Bodinnick Ferry can transport your car across the river to explore further.

Step through the grand entrance door into a sophisticated, open-plan living room and kitchen, extending across the width of the house. Wooden floors and sash windows with original shutters imbue the space with the rich history of the house, while window seats offer charming views of the tree-lined surroundings. On one side, a fully equipped, contemporary kitchen with a breakfast bar and two stools awaits, providing everything needed for culinary endeavours at home. On the opposite side, the living area features stylish sofas arranged for group socialising or cosying up to watch your favourite shows on the Smart TV. Two steps lead up to the dining area, infused with a spacious table and benches, while the staircase climbs to the bedrooms on the first floor. A practical cloakroom and utility room with a slate-flagged floor are conveniently located towards the rear of the house, with a door from the utility room granting access to the garden. Moving up to the first floor, the main king-size bedroom is bathed in natural light at the front of the house, offering serene views of the church, along with built-in wardrobes and an en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom with church views also occupies the front, while two additional king-size bedrooms and the main bathroom are positioned towards the rear. A door on this level also leads out to the garden, completing the integration of indoor and outdoor living spaces.

To the rear of the house, at the first-floor level, lies a wonderful, Mediterranean-inspired enclosed garden. It features a combination of paving and lush vegetation, providing a delightful setting for outdoor dining or a peaceful retreat for reading in a sunny alcove. A side gate provides easy access to the garden allowing you to offload your beach gear and hang up wetsuits after a day out.

Reviews

We had the most amazing week staying in this cottage, the location is fantastic, the house is well appointed and beautifully clean… We love the decor, the house has everything you would need for a week away, the garden is perfect for dogs or little children as it’s super secure. I would go back to stay at this house without hesitation and everyone that came to join us over the week loved it too! I’ve already recommended it to a couple of friends!

Mrs M,

A fabulous house in a unique and prime location that delivered all facilities as advertised. Do not worry about the church clock bell, it fades into the background within a few short hours. Ding dong!

Mr A,

A fantastic house with everything you need and more (including parking!!!). Lovely living area on the ground floor, and 4 large bedrooms upstairs. Great outdoor area too. You can’t get a better central location in Fowey. Five wonderful nights with the extended family and our dog.

Mr D,

A well located, beautifully presented home which was warm and welcoming. Plenty of space and great access to town, pubs and restaurants. Parking was a big bonus. Would book again.

Mr H,

Property was superbly presented and possibly the nicest holiday home we have visited. It is a credit to the owner and management team. Very well stocked with crockery and cutlery and all other facilities. In summary just brilliant! The addition of a parking space was a real benefit and whilst it is a bit tight at times in the area the benefit of the space itself outweighs this.

Previous Customer,

Fantastic holiday home, comfortable, clean, welcoming. Rather than a welcome pack we were left a £15 voucher to spend at the deli, excellent idea. fabulously warm and toasty house. Ideal position for Fowey shops, harbour, esplanade and of course The Ship Inn and Sam’s Bistro. All in All it was everything we wanted plus more, we booked for next year before we left which says it all.

Mrs Taylor F,

This is such a beautiful home. Very well equipped for all your needs. The utility area was a massive bonus as we had 2 young children with us so the washing machine and dryer got a lot of use. Kitchen had just about everything. It has been tastefully decorated and we used every space available. Location was brilliant, short walk for croissants and coffees and the local shops and restaurants. Would definitely return!

Miss B,

A great house centrally located in the heart of Fowey, with parking and a lovely sunny garden. Ideal for friends and large family get togethers.

Ms C,

Lovely, very spacious holiday cottage in a great location. Very comfortable and well equipped. The location was perfect, right in the centre of Fowey with all the restaurants, shops, and lovely local walks. The church (next to the cottage) bells did ring every hour, even throughout the night, so if you are a light sleeper this could be a problem, but we did get used to the chimes and it was quite a nice sound. We took the ferry to Polruan and did the Hall Walk, well worth doing. We only used the car once to go to Lanhydrock National Trust Property which was well worth a visit. The bus stops at the top of the hill from the cottage, and goes to Charlestown and other places which is good if you do not want to drive. We had a fabulous week in Fowey and hope to go again.

Mrs S,

Wonderful house and location couldn’t be a better spot for us in Fowey

Mrs B,

A fantastic property in a great location, close to centre of Fowey. Very spacious, well thought out layout and exclusive garden.
