If you want to relax and retreat from the rat race for a while, then this part of Norfolk could not be bettered. Quiet country lanes, for walking, cycling and birdwatching, cosy country pubs and great food are all to be found locally in the surrounding villages and countryside. The nearby village of Melton Constable has a well renowned butcher's shop that has award winning sausages, with over 28 flavours to choose from including Wild Boar & Juniper, Rhubarb & Sweet Chilli and Venison, Mushroom & Onion - clearly a genuine champion of Norfolk food and drink, which the region is justifiably famous for. Head north and the coastline beckons with lovely seaside villages such as Blakeney and Wells-next-the-Sea in the west and Cromer and Sheringham in the east all with their own individual character and charm. There are two impressive National Trust houses nearby, Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall and the elegant Georgian town of Holt with its art and antique galleries, cafe culture, great shopping, small gauge steam railway and local Country Park makes for a great day out.
