Description

Providence Mill is a former steam saw mill dating back to the 1800s, where they manufactured agricultural tools. Over the years the property has been updated to what is now a large four bedroom house with flexible living accommodation. The property is within walking distance of the popular market town of Hawes. Over the road is the world famous Wensleydale Creamery, where you can sample the cheese and watch it being made.
Providence Mill has a lovely bright and airy lounge with large bay window and open fire – perfect for relaxing in after a long days walk in the Dales. Children (and adults come to that) will be kept well entertained with a smart TV and comfy sofa. The recently installed kitchen has been well stocked up with all the crockery and utensils required to make a traditional Yorkshire roast. The dining room adjoins the kitchen and has a large table big enough for all the whole family to get around. There is also a handy downstairs loo and good size front porch come boot room. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two of which are set up as doubles and the other two are set as a twin and a single. Two of the bedrooms have the added benefit of an en-suite but not to worry for those that don’t as there is also a good size family bathroom with separate bath and shower. Outside there is ample parking for three vehicles. Owners can provide another single bed available upon request.

Reviews

This cottage is so well equipped with everything you need, it was like a tardis, so much space, beautiful Hawes on your doorstep and some stunning walks and obviously the creamery just across the road. For all we were close to the town it was so peaceful, thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Mrs T,

Excellent location close to the centre of Hawes.. Exceptionally well equipped kitchen

Mrs B,

Mrs L,

Excellent in all respects.

Mr T,

Great cottage for a large group. Brilliant access to village and perfect location to explore the Dales!

Mr F,

A warm, cosy and comfortable place to stay over New Year with our family. Great location for walking into Hawes and lovely to have a real fire to return to, as our weather wasn't the best! The cottage was very clean, had comfortable beds and was well equipped with everything we needed - a real home from home. Thank you!

Mrs T,

Cosy and warm traditional style dales cottage. Well equipped with plenty of space. A short walk into Hawes and ideally located for many local walks without having to use the car. I would recommend the property and would not hesitate to return.

Mr P,

Totally a home from home. Felt so relaxed from the moment we arrived. Very clean and very comfortable. Everything you could possibly require from a holiday home and a perfect location.

Mr M,

Good communication, great house, great location, will book again

Mrs Jeni C,

We spent a very enjoyable two weeks at Providence Mill with family and friends. The cottage is well placed for shopping in Hawes for essentials and as a starting point for a wide variety of short and longer walks and cycle rides, including the Pennine Way and Pennine Bridleway. The new kitchen is very attractive, well laid out and well able to meet the needs of seven people.

Mr B,

Location

Gayle/ Hawes
Gayle is a picturesque hamlet situated a mile south of Hawes, in Wensleydale. Here you will find the Wensleydale Creamery where you can watch the renowned cheese being hand crafted and packaged ready for sale. The picturesque, Duerley Beck is a few steps from the property and is spanned by an old and narrow bridge and can also be crossed by a ford at a point where ducks and geese are often in evidence. There are two waterfalls, Gayle Force and Aisgill, nearby. The two roads leading out of Hawes are mountain pass roads, the famous Buttertubs Pass to Swaledale and Fleet Moss to Wharfedale. Hawes has an excellent range of shops, takeaways, tearooms and restaurants. There is also a weekly market and the Mart for livestock on Tuesdays, the Countryside Museum and Hawes rope makers are within easy reach.
