Description
Fox Cottage is located in one of the most picturesque locations in North Devon. Surrounded by dramatic Exmoor countryside and overlooking the deeply cut East Lyn river this recently refurbished cottage provides a wonderful cosy retreat. Lynmouth is where Exmoor meets the Sea, a picturesque coastal village with a great choice of individual shops, a good selection of eateries and offering wonderful views over the pretty harbour, dramatic coastal cliffs and out to sea. Walkers will be spoilt by the many coastal, countryside and river walks and nature lovers will enjoy the flora and fauna of this unique landscape including Exmoor red deer. Lynton village is perched 400 ft above Lynmouth and is easily accessed by road or exhilarating hillside walk but the famous water powered railway offers a most unique and not to be missed experience when visiting Lynmouth’s ‘twin’ village. Many beauty spots including The Doone Valley, The Valley of the Rocks and Porlock Weir can be found within a 30 minute drive and the award winning beaches of Woolacombe Bay only an extra 10 minutes by car.
The cottage has origins in the 1700’s and some of the original character can be seen in the narrow steep staircases, beams, low thresholds and inglenook fireplace. Recent refurbishments have enhanced the original cottage providing a modern and stylish holiday home. The entrance(via steps and sloping pathway) can be found at the rear of the building with a stable door opening directly into an open plan living/dining area with cushioned window seats to enjoy the river views and a well-designed kitchen. A spacious double room is on the first floor offering lovely river views and a newly fitted shower room can be found adjacent. Steep stairs lead up to the second floor and open out into a twin, attic style room with sloping ceiling.
