Description

A splendidly converted stone Chapel once owned by John Myers, the cousin of William Wordsworth, who is said to have visited whilst it was still a Chapel. Set in 5 acres of woodland and gardens with magnificent views over the Whicham Valley, Black Combe Fell and continuing towards the Coniston Fells.

To take advantage of the views, the Chapel has been configured with the living/sleeping area upstairs. The whole top floor is an open plan living and bedroom featuring a king size bed along with many original features, oak beams, stone walls and chapel style windows. It's a fantastic space with wooden flooring, welcoming warming log burner and a comfortable sofa. It is a great room to rewind and relax in at any time of the day.

Downstairs, there is the fully equipped kitchen including fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The dining table offers lovely views across the garden whilst enjoying your dinner. The lovely bathroom is located just off the kitchen equipped with a glorious walk-in shower and freestanding bath, a peaceful spot to relax at the end of the days exploring.

The Chapel is dog-friendly and the owners even provide a little doggy treat on your arrival.

There is an enclosed mature garden with seating area overlooking the rolling countryside. With Black Coombe Fell and the Whicham Valley on your doorstep, there are many walks from the front door or the southern Lake District Fells including Coniston, Lake Windermere and Wastwater are only 30 mins drive away. If you fancy a sea view and the coast, the dog-friendly beach of Silecroft is under 2 miles away.

There are also stables and yard on-site if you wish to bring your horse or pony (please enquire).

The Chapel is a fantastic property sleeping 2 in a peaceful, idyllic location. A great base for your Lake District break.

The Chapel can be booked with the neighbouring properties Fellview (GL096) and Dog Crag Cabin (LD155) to sleep up to 8 guests. Please enquire for more details.

N.B. Pets are allowed in the upstairs living area, however please don't allow pets on the living/bedroom furniture.

Reviews

Simply delightful. Great setting, great views, charming ducks & chickens, dogs & horse. Still laughing at the call ducks barrelling about! & fabulous walks up the local fell, or Black Combe, or our favourite Silecroft Beach & all just minutes away - with the great new Silecroft Beach Cafe an extra bonus. Owner Louise so friendly & helpful, accommodation so comfortable - we’ll be back!

Mr T,

Chapel was well equipped and very comfortable.

Mrs W,

We could not praise this accommodation, the location and Louise (the owner) enough. Our stay was just perfect and we look so forward to visiting again.

Mrs B,

Such a beautiful cottage just a little remote for myself Louise the owner was lovely and accommodating

Ms W,

Excellent property. Good location for sea, sand and lakes. Lovely host and very welcoming. Had a peaceful and relaxing week at the Chapel

Mr C,

Beautiful place in a lovely location. Enjoyed seeing the two horses on site as well as dogs, ducks and chickens. Perfection choice for us and our dog,

Ms W,

Just perfection, we absolutely loved our stay at the Chapel. Owner was super friendly and helpful and everything was just excellent. I would go back in a heartbeat...stunning cottage in a stunning location, thank you so much!

Ms G,

Excellent accommodation and area One of our top places we've been too

Mr A,

The Chapel was everything and more we could have asked for. It’s a stunning conversion with a beautiful and spacious garden for the dogs to roam around in. It had all of the amenities we required, and was plenty big enough for two people/ 4 dogs. The secluded location was beautiful and incredibly peaceful, but it was also very easy to find. It was a quick 2 minute drive down to Silecroft beach and had a public pathway walk right on the doorstep, both of which were perfect for the dogs. The host was extremely friendly and accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to The Chapel in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Miss B,

A rural location you need some transport. The cottage is brilliant and the facilities are good. My 4 dogs loved it,even if the cockerel did torment them

Mrs M,

An immaculate accommodation. With wonderful facilities. It was a real treat to stay here. We took our 4 dogs and they loved it. Plenty of space for them and easy to clean their paws. The beach at Haverigg was a short drive away and perfect for running the dogs. The owner was very helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

Mr W,

Fantastic location. The cottage is perfect for a getaway to The Lake District. Clean and welcoming. It has everything you need for a relaxing time. There are two beaches nearby and are dog friendly which is great. Highly recommended this cottage for your next stay.

Mrs D,

The property was immaculately clean and we were provided with everything needed. The owner was very hospitable and friendly towards us. Would highly recommend.

Mr H,

Absolutely amazing loved every minute of the stay. The owners were beyond helpful. Thank you so much for an amazing holiday ❤️

Mrs M,

If you want to take your furry friends on holiday with you The Chapel is a brilliant place to come. The dogs are made very welcome alongside their humans. Louise, the owner, is totally relaxed and fully understands the needs of our furry family members. The enclosed garden is plenty big enough for 2 large dogs and the locality of an extremely dog friendly beach just a couple of miles away is brilliant. Would highly recommend.

Mrs G,

Garden very unkempt, grass far too long, stairs to upstairs not very safe with no handrail on window side, no mention of working courtyard in front of you with ducks/ hens entering the garden, had a near miss with our puppy with a duck (felt quite stressful after that) grass a bit long to be able to clean up properly after the pup to say it was meant to be pet friendly

Mr Ken H,
