Description

This superb waterside property has far-reaching views over the estuary to the pretty fishing village of Appledore. Sleeping eight people, Linwood has been beautifully decorated to provide contemporary holiday accommodation and provides plenty of space for everyone to get together. There is a superb decked area with outside seating overlooking the estuary which is accessed from bi-folding doors in the living area and it’s easy to imagine having a mug of coffee in the morning and watch the boating world go by.

Inside the open-plan living area has leather settees, a large dining table and a well-equipped kitchen with a useful utility room. There is a separate, additional living room with a television, Playstation 3 and DVD player – a perfect place for the younger members of the group to have their own space. All four bedrooms are well-designed and provide flexible sleeping arrangements and there is a family bathroom and an en-suite shower room.

Linwood is a short walk from the centre of Instow - a village which needs to be to explored at a gentle pace. Stroll along its pretty front to drink in the views of the estuary or pause to admire the beachfront cricket ground and remarkable thatched pavilion – one of the oldest in the country. Given Instow’s position on the estuary, it’s no surprise that the big event of the year is a maritime one. The Appledore & Instow Regatta, first held in 1885, is a relaxed but competitive event that promotes old traditions of boat-building while hosting lots of nautical fun and excitement. The Tarka Trail is one of the country’s longest traffic-free walking and cycling paths and Instow is right on it. It follows the route of the old Southern Railway track which halted at Instow Station (amazingly it linked the village with Waterloo Station in London!) before continuing on to Bideford.

Reviews

Great location overlooking estuary with off road parking and Tarka trail access. Regular bus service to Barnstaple and Bideford a few metre’s away. Good pubs serving food and farm shop on doorstep. Warm and welcoming property. Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Would recommend.

Mrs H,

Linwood is ideally located, well equipped and recently “refreshed”.

Mr L,

A very well equipped cottage everything has been thought of ,the veranda was like an additional room ,and great for coffee in the morning watching the boats on the estuary and the changing tides. The house was tastefully furnished and very clean .we would certainly consider booking it again

Mrs S,

Fantastic house which was spotless throughout. We would highly recommend to others.

Mr R,

Great property in prime location, having parking is a luxury in this location, all local amenities Great and well worth a visit. Would definitely recommend and return.

Mr F,

Linwood is a stunning house in an amazing location, the house was very clean and had everything you could need, very comfy beds, great water pressure in the showers. Such a bonus to have secure parking too. The games/tv room was very welcome. Would definitely recommend to friends and we hope to return there some time.

Mrs B,

Large house with everything needed for a lovely week away. Parking for couple of large 4WDs. Beautiful views. Great location within walking distance of beach, pubs and restaurants. Also close to ferry for Appledore in the summer months.

Mrs C,

Lovely property opposite the water. It had everything you needed and was spotless. We had a lovely stay. If you want to use the beach check the water quality…signage in Instow said it’s unlikely to meet regulations for bathing, and didn’t when we were there. Parking was a real asset. We had a lovely holiday, but our SUPs were taken home unused!

Mrs F,

Linwood is perfectly located on the Instow waterfront and is ideal for a multi-generation family holiday, with a short walk to beach, pubs, restaurants and John’s Deli.

Mr L,

Linwood was everything we could wish for. The location is great and the house is big enough for 8 adults without being on top of each other. We can only recommend the place!

Mr G,

Lovely property overlooking the bay towards appledore. All bedrooms double size and with twin or double beds, and plenty space downstairs for dining, relaxing, and outdoor seating. Car parking on drive, able to fit 3 small to medium cars with a bit of moving around, otherwise free street parking after 5 or 6pm. Great base for our holiday, many places to visit within an hours drive. Instow is small but very nice village, lovely beach and plenty of places to eat for its size aswell as grocery/deli store. Only minor downside with property is earlier than normal check out for 9am, particulalry as expectation is to strip beds etc
