Description

Breath-taking views are a real highlight of this charming cottage by the sea, perched on the cliff top overlooking the Atlantic Ocean stretching from Baggy to Hartland Point with Lundy Island on the horizon. Ideal either as a romantic break for two, for walkers or a family who appreciate the tranquillity, Williams Cottage is light and airy with an open plan lower level. The sitting room has a cosy wood burning stove and an alcoved window seat which is a perfect spot to relax and gaze out at the amazing sea views. From the separate dining room, also with lovely sea views, a few steps lead down into the kitchen (a glass partition separates the two levels) which has a stable door opening onto the garden. A fairly steep staircase leads up to an attractive good sized double bedroom where you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of a nearby waterfall tumbling through a cleft down to the sea. A further compact double room with stunning sea views shares the bathroom with a hip bath and shower over. The garden has a patio and BBQ area and there is a stream just across the front lawn separated by a low wall (please take care with young children). A short stroll leads down to the pebble beach, where at low tide expanses of soft sand appear between the rock pools. Bucks Mills village lies on a section of the South West Coast Path between Clovelly and Westward Ho! so it is an ideal spot for walkers. From Clovelly you can take a fishing trip from the small cove or simply explore the ancient cobbled streets. Westward Ho! and its fabulous stretch of golden sands, popular with surfers is just a ten minute drive away. Boat trips to Lundy Island in summer offer a rare opportunity to see seals, dolphins, puffins and other diverse wildlife in their natural habitat. There is so much to see and do in this unspoilt part of North Devon, and Williams Cottage is a really special home to return to.

Reviews

A very pretty cottage in a truly lovely location. The cottage has one of the best positions in an unspoilt large hamlet tucked away on the edge of a temperate rainforest and overlooking the sea. Would benefit from a little more basic equipment and a few repairs.

Dr A,

Beautiful area with lovely views of the sea, Lundy and Clovelly.

Mr M,

This place is unreal, we had an amazing week celebrating my partners 40th birthday. The cake on arrival was a beautiful touch and I now desperately want a coffee machine. Lying in bed looking out to Clovelly, the sea and the fabulous sky for me was just the best and we were so sad to leave. We wen’t very fortunate with the weather so didn’t make use of the garden however the quick cuppa out there was precious. My only negative for us was whilst dogs are welcome for us it wasn’t dog friendly. We have to spaniels who like to get wet and muddy and trying to contain them in an area till they were clean and dry was challenging.

Ms W,

Stunning location, loved looking at the sea on both a calm and stormy day. Comfortable well equipped cottage in a quiet part of Devon well placed to visit nearby beaches and attractions. The best thing for me was the many walks straight from the front door woods, beach and coastal my dogs loved it. The only downside is whilst the garden is enclosed my dog jumped the fence within minutes, with a resident dog next door it meant I had to keep them both on leads in the garden.

Miss S,

Williams Cottage is a lovely little cottage in a fantastic location by the sea.

Mr B,

Absolutely stunning location. Great sea views. Peaceful and relaxing. We had the most wonderful stay. Didn't want to come home. Cottage has everything you need for a wonderful stay.

Mrs L,

A lovely cottage, very homely and comfortable. Spectacular sea views from all the windows. Cosy wood burner ! A delicious carrot cake and local milk on arrival! Beach is rocky but stunning with a beautiful water fall ( cottage just above on the cliff) Wonderful stay !
