One mile through country lane is Medieval Colyton, home to many historic buildings and winding lanes lined with a fantastic selection of local shops, restaurants and tea rooms. Running through miles of unspoilt countryside alongside the River Axe wetlands, take a ride on the quaint Seaton Tramway from Colyton Tram Station a mile away to the seaside of Seaton (3.5 miles) which lies on the edge of the Jurassic Coast.  The pretty village of Colyford is nestled in the heart of the Coly Valley, set in East Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, can all be reached within 4.5 miles. The property is within easy reach of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage and Shute Barton National Trust.

Reminiscent of an authentic farmhouse, this property is adorned with delightful country-cottage style décor and gorgeous original features including stone flooring and beautiful beam work. The spacious kitchen with its handy breakfast bar will capture your imagination, whilst the charming dining room, with its 15th-century oak screen, provides the perfect peaceful spot to enjoy a glass of something chilled with the whole family. Seamlessly marrying original, rustic features with sophisticated, homely touches, the beautifully cosy lounge boasts a warming ambience; the roaring wood burner, exposed ceiling beams and stone chimney echo the barn’s rich heritage. Completing the ground floor is a characterful en-suite super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom which features patio doors to the garden and a TV. Upstairs, you’ll find a further three bedrooms, another en-suite super-king-size zip-and-link and two king-size, which all boast TVs and wonderful views to wake up to. An elegant, contemporary family bathroom completes this postcard-perfect retreat.

Outside, lose yourself in the soothing sounds of the trickling stream running through the enclosed garden as you dine alfresco on the decking before star gazing in the clear, dark skies on a fine evening.

Reviews

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. Margaret is a magnificent host, greeting us upon our arrival. We were delighted to find two bottles of wine, scones, cream and jam, tea, coffee and milk all waiting for us. Nothing was too much trouble and the cottage is perfect for families who wish to get away. Heartily recommended!

Mr H,

The owners were very friendly and welcoming, every trying was thought of and well presented. The property was also super clean and in good condition. The cottage was perfect for our stay. Good sized and well equipped kitchen, lovely dining room and a lounge with wood burner. With the four generously sized double bedrooms (two en-suites and one family bathroom), it was perfect for our group. We loved the quiet location with access to a public footpath right from the farm itself. The coast is a short drive away. Can easily walk to local pubs too. Perfect for a long weekend or week long escape.

Mrs S,

Stayed here for a long weekend with 4 generations of family including 1 with reduced mobility , the downstairs bedroom and ensuite was perfect for him. All the bedrooms are very large with plenty of storage and lovely comfortable beds. We was a large group and it never felt crowded. The kitchen has every utensil you could need and there was plenty of plates, glasses etc. The property is rural but not far from the lovely village of Colyton with a well stocked shop. The welcome cream tea and wine went down a treat thank you Margaret and Brian for going above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed for a perfect weekend.
