(3 miles) and if you can tear yourself away from Appledore, you can explore many of North Devon’s most picturesque locations including the privately owned Clovelly, a cliffside village which tumbles down to its harbour in a riot of cobbled streets and small cottages. For shopping, Bideford with its ancient pannier market is worth a visit (3.5 miles).
