Description

Croyde is a chocolate box village with many thatched houses, shops and trendy eateries favoured by young and old alike. Its golden sandy beach gives you an opportunity to try a wide range of water sports. On either side of the village are more beaches where the sand, sea and surf can be enjoyed, Woolacombe, Saunton and Putsborough being just some. Walkers will be spoilt for choice with direct access onto the South West Coast Path, from Croyde, taking you across the spectacular headland to Baggy Point, Exmoor National Park is within easy reach by car. Other attractions and places of interest nearby include the links golf course at Saunton, Barnstaple with its market and high street shops, Exmoor Zoo, Ilfracombe and Lynton and Lynmouth are also worth a visit.

This spacious and well-appointed house sits in a peaceful residential cul-de-sac and is a short walk from the village centre. On entering the property, you immediately note how light and airy the rooms are with the lounge/diner to your left with limed oak flooring, sofas, large wall mounted TV/DVD, music system and welcoming wood burner for those cooler months. The glass dining table is great for formal meals and seats eight guests. There is a sun room with comfy seating just off the lounge with French doors that open out onto the garden, ideal for quiet reading or an afternoon nap. The kitchen/diner is well-equipped and has a large breakfast table with benches, seating eight easily and ideal for more casual dining. Spacious and well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and iPod docking station. There is also a washing machine in the adjoining utility cupboard and door to the garden. There are four bedrooms, a stylish king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request) is situated on the ground floor, there is also a separate shower room with WC. Heading up the stairs to the first floor there are a further three bedrooms, a double with TV and en-suite shower room with shower and WC and views over the dunes to the sea beyond. A further double and a twin and a bathroom with bath and WC completes the accommodation.

Stepping outside, there is a well maintained and enclosed garden surrounding the property ideal for children and dogs. A paved terraced area with garden furniture offers the chance to eat alfresco or just enjoy some late afternoon sun. There is a charcoal BBQ available. Keen surfers and beach lovers will look forward to returning to the house and use the outside hot shower, great for rinsing off wetsuits or sandy toes and paws. A further seating area with hammock makes this a fabulous spot to unwind and truly relax. The garage can be accessed from the garden and offers secure storage for surfboards, bikes and buggies. There is off-road parking available for three cars.

Reviews

The house was spacious (we havev4 large dogs), clean and well equipped plus the garden was dog-proof! We had a terrific holiday and again have booked for a return break in the Autumn while we were there. We had a wonderful holiday with our daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and dogs and are already looking forward to October. Thank you.

Mrs G,

The house is spacious and in a good location for the beach and village, but sadly both the house and garden felt generally neglected with numerous maintenance issues. Towels and bedding were good quality. Certainly not a four star property and we would not return.

Mrs G,

A light, spacious and warm house. We had 4 large dogs with us and the garden was large enough and dog-proof. It was a 10 minute walk to the beach which was really handy. We enjoyed our stay so much we had booked a return visit whilst still there on holiday. We've had a really enjoyable holiday.

Mrs H,

Great property. Fantastic location. We will be back!

Miss C,

The house is great base for the village of Croyde and surrounding areas. Perfect for larger groups as there was plenty of space in the living areas and kitchen. All bedrooms provided plenty of space as well. Garden was ideal for the dogs that were in our group as it was completely enclosed and there was plenty of outdoor furniture to enjoy the sunshine.

Mr D,

House is in a great location, with a reasonable walk to both the beach and the village centre. Own parking is a significant benefit. Our stay was towards the end of season, so there were a few minor maintenance issues.

Mr J,

You should clearly state that this property is not suitable for older people with mobility issues . A lovely location.

Mrs N,

Enjoyed our stay at the Dunes.Good size garden and very secure for our 3 dogs.Spacious property and ample off road car parking . Good location

Mr D,

A very enjoyable stay at Dunes as we were blessed with beautiful weather for most of the week. We had a few gripes with various things - the cooker had no guide decals so cooking was trial and error. The DVD player didn’t work and TV on its last legs. Garden furniture not fit for purpose. Garden borders overgrown with weeds. Non the less, we were very comfortable during our stay. Crisp white bedding and lovely large fluffy white towels provided. Kitchen was very well kitted out and had everything we needed. Previous reviews had obviously been heeded and the various bits and pieces added . If all the little niggles are sorted out, we would consider another stay.

Mr T,

Great for dogs as garden was dog friendly(our dogs fairly small escapoligists)very spacious and well equipped 5 min walk to village

Ms C,

Clean and comfortable house. Very spacious, light and well equipped. Warm and cozy. Not the weather to use the garden, but lots of secure outdoor space. Level walk to the Thatch pub and beach. Well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook.

Mrs J,

great house, good location, - definitely need to take the essentials, including dishcloth/tea towel/oven gloves!

Past Customer,

Lovely large house ideal for family get together . Great to be able to walk to the beach and an enclosed garden great for dogs and toddlers

Past Customer,

We loved the location of this house. It is well set out for a multi-generation family. The enclosed garden is ideal for children and dogs. The kitchen was large and met our needs well. Some of the decor needs a refresh and the conservatory door was in need of repair so couldn’t be used. A few niggles but thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Croyde. Highly recommend the ice cream shop in the village which brought back memories of visiting as a child.

Past Customer,

Ideal location for families, nice house. Not suitable for disabled as there are steps to get in and no grab rails in downstairs bathroom. Very clean, tidy and comfortable house. Garden does need attention, there are a lot of flowers but are smothered by weeds. Disappointed we could not use conservatory as it was too hot. Only told day before that the doors had been locked as they are broken waiting repair. Some of the hot plates on cooker don’t seem to be getting to right temperature.

Past Customer,

Group of 7 people, two dogs. Great location and comfortable accommodation with good dog friendly outside space. Would definitely recommend, but as mentioned before - there are steps to both back and front so probably not suitable for disabled/wheelchair users. Few niggles (downstairs windows often stuck and conservatory door broken/unusable). As per previous review (thanks for this) - bring oven gloves as none at property, and extra tea towels.

Past Customer,

Excellent location. Great walks to Saunton Sands and Putsborough beaches for the dogs to run free. Properly enclosed garden which was great for the dogs. House was comfortable and well equipped but more attention was needed with regard to cleanliness.

Past Customer,

The Dunes is a lovely house - well positioned and very spacious - garden lovely too - well equipped (lack of wine glasses though!) Very clean too - we spent a lovely week there and would definitely recommend.

Past Customer,

Great location, lovely holiday and a good size house and garden but multiple maintenance issues with the house and could not get hold of local caretakers at all. We arrived to a flooded conservatory due to a roof leak. Cleaning standards low (eg kitchen table sticky). Fridge iced up and leaked water over our food. Several windows don't close. DVD player broken. TV channels missing. No instructions for house .Bring everything with you - no hand soap, dishwasher tablets, toilet cleaner, T towels.

Past Customer,

This property was lovely, if a bit tired near the end of season but in a great location. The garden needed a tidy up with overgrown shrubs and grass, some of the wooden structures are rotting. Major gripe is this property should NOT be listed as "accessible" on the website, we booked this cottage because of this listing and we were very disappointed to find that the front and door had steps and front too narrow for a wheelchair, also no disabled toilet facilities so this home "NOT ACCESSIBLE".

Past Customer,

Overall, it was a lovely house and a good location. The house has lots of space, all spacious rooms and bathrooms. There is plenty of room for 6 to 8 people. The garden is perfect for dogs and children as its enclosed. The house was clean but as others have mentioned TLC is needed as garden furniture broke and some paint work needed. If your staying bring tea towels, hand soap etc as non provided. We would stay again but hope these problems would of been fixed by then.

Past Customer,

The cottage was very good and comfortable, in the winds the doors rattled. Perhaps it's a good idea to explain about the different routes to the beach.

Past Customer,

The perfect base for our short break. Very spacious, clean and comfortable and a nice quiet location within a 5 minute walk of The Thatch!

Past Customer,

This house is in a lovely location. It is not wheelchair friendly.( Steps at every door). In need of some general maintenance. But we had a lovely week with all our children and grandchildren. Lots to do in the area too.

Past Customer,

This house is wonderful. We had everything we needed for a perfect holiday. The house is situated in a beautiful spot, very close to Croyde beach. The house is a stone's throw away from lots of equally amazing beaches. I hadn't realised how incredible North Devon is until we stayed here - absolutely loved it.

Past Customer,

This is a beautiful property with reach of everything you need Well worth the money, garden is perfect for dogs

Past Customer,

Perfect location and layout
