Description

Nestled in an idyllic hamlet along the captivating Devon coastline, this delightful retreat is just a mile from the picturesque Lee Bay, a pretty cove that can be accessed via a fairly challenging walk or a scenic car journey. Once you have arrived, Lee Bay offers opportunities for adventurous activities like sea swimming, coasteering, and paddleboarding, and is the perfect spot for exploring the rock pools. The cottage sits less than 4 miles from the renowned Woolacombe Bay, a seaside haven celebrated as one of the world's premier surfing beaches, boasting 3 miles of pristine golden sands. Revel in the vibrant atmosphere with an array of shops, pubs, and restaurants, take leisurely strolls along the coast, or indulge in classic fish and chips on the beach. Nature enthusiasts will be happy to see the South West Coast Path a mile distant, while a 15-mile venture leads to the enchanting Exmoor National Park, featuring woodland walks and mystical moorlands.

Making your way into the cottage, you will be greeted with a flow of hand-crafted wooden details. Passing through the well-appointed kitchen will lead you into the open-plan lounge/diner, where you’ll be greeted with two comfortable sofas. Relax here whilst listening to the warming crackle and pop from the wood burner on those chillier nights. The dining table seats all guests with ease and acts as the perfect spot for laid-back meals at home. Completing the lower floor is the double bedroom and family bathroom. When the night draws in, head up the unique wooden stairway to two further bedrooms: a double with a four-poster bed and a cosy bunk room.

The cottage offers outside space in abundance, perfect for all ages. Children have their own play equipment including swings and a slide, whilst adults can relax on the sun loungers set on the lawn space. There is also a fire pit area, providing the perfect evening base for those memorable melted marshmallow moments.

Reviews

Excellent cottage. The owner, living next door, was extremely welcoming and helpful.

Mrs W,

Beautiful cottage, a real home from home. The gardens were perfect for children and wonderful amenities in the house. Only drawback is the very narrow lane to access the property with very few passing places. Lovely walks though and beautiful sea views and a fabulous welcome basket from our host Gemma, who was so helpful and friendly.

Mrs T,

Apart from the extremely thin road unsuitable for some vehicle to access the property, everything was absolutely fabulous! Cosy, comfortable, remote and quirky stairs. We absolutely loved our stay (2 adults, 3 teens and a dog). Cottage had a wonderful welcoming and warm feeling to it. Gemma was so lovely and the place was well maintained and clean. Wi-fi hit and miss (teens were not impressed but we actually loved seeing more of them!!!! LOL!). The welcome hamper was just amazing - never had one so wonderful! ...and Cid said thank you for the dog treats! kxxx

Mrs R,

Home from home for all the family. Perfect layout with children's bunk bed bedroom next to one of the doubles with a toilet and basin off the same landing on 1st floor. Great third bedroom (2nd double) on ground floor next to main bathroom off a small corridor with door leading to lounge. Perfect privacy from early rising grandchildren. Children loved the play area and toys available to play with. The garden was so relaxing. Ideal for Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. Great fish and chips at Mortehoe village and a lovely pub. Lovely walk down to Lee Bay from the cottage and other coastal walks. Gemma was a wonderful host.

Mrs M,

Great holiday. We all loved this cottage. We felt thoroughly welcome in all respects. The cottage felt very cosy and private and the quiet location was perfect for us - family of adults and teens. :)

Mrs R,

What a beautiful cottage, located in a quiet area with a sea view and access to great views on foot (we enjoyed the dog walks!) Having been to Woolacombe for many years on holiday, the location and distance to the beach was fantastic. Gemma was an amazing host. Would definitely recommend!

Mr W,

Lovely place, really cosy and garden lovely. Especially for children with the play equipment The only downside is the narrow lane leading up to it as the hedges were rather overgrown, this proved a bit tricky at times

Mrs B,

Great cottage tucked away in the countryside. The facilities in the garden were great for both adults and kids. My 3 year old had a fantastic time with the toys and swings provided. The host, Gemma, was super helpful and ever so responsive.

Mr N,

Wonderful place and very nice owners. Close to the beach , beautiful footpaths and mtb trails. We will come again for sure
