Description

What a location! The Old Bakery is situated on one of the oldest streets in the centre of the bustling town of Dartmouth.

Orginally dating from around 1600, The Old Bakery is a Grade II Listed three storey townhouse steeped in history.  This stunning house has recently been refurbished to the highest of standards whilst keeping the original charm and character.  The original bread oven, which is believed to have been abandoned in the early 20th Century, has also been retained as an attractive feature.   The property is situated a stones throw from the beautiful St Saviours Church, a christian presence in the heart of the community and is considered to be one of the best 100 churches in England. Please note the church bells ring, every hour, on the hour and throughout the night; there is also a bell ringing practice on a Wednesday evening for 90 minutes.

The property offers sunny accommodation and is very comfortably furnished with a clean and neutral decor scheme.  On the ground floor is the family kitchen and lounge with granite flooring throughout.  There are four bedrooms, all spacious and very tastefully decorated, which include an ensuite master bedroom with a mezzanine gallery inside the room, an ideal set up for parents with young children.

Only steps away from a local deli, you can pick up freshly baked croissants in the morning or even have breakfast out the famous Cafe Alf Resco before spending the day enjoying the ancient towns cobbled streets, market and active port.

Dartmouth lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideally located for exploring the neighbouring towns and beaches of Torquay, Brixham, Salcombe and the wider South Hams.  The stunning beach at Blackpool Sands is just ten minutes away by car.  Woodlands Adventure Park, Agatha Christie's Greenway House, River Dart Boat cruises, fishing trips and the steam railway are all nearby, so the area is perfect for family holidays all year round, whatever the weather.

In the months of May through to November why not attend one of the many events and festivals in the area like the Dartmouth Music Festival, Dartmouth Royal Regatta, Dartmouth Food Festival, Torbay Air Show.

Reviews

Lovely cottage, tucked away in the very narrow streets of Dartmouth with an easy walk to all of the town centre. very clean and well equipped, allowing 8 of us to be comfortable.

Mr T,

Lovely, well equipped cottage in the heart of Dartmouth. Very homely and comfortable and an easy walk to explore all Dartmouth's shops, parks, restaurants etc. We were pleased to find a highchair and stair gates provided (the cottage has fairly steep, winding stairs), and even some games to entertain the children. The Old Bakery was a great base for our large family group, and we really enjoyed our stay.

Mrs Y,

A lovely week spent in the Old Bakery in the heart of the beautiful town of Dartmouth. The location was perfect for exploring the town. Lots to do and lots of places to eat and drink. Would recommend a day at the stunning Blackpool Sands when the weather permits. Would love to return in the future.

Mr R,

Very Lovely clean, well presented and positioned property within easy reach of all shops, eateries, public transport and quayside. Very spacious and relaxing and had a great nights sleep in comfortable beds and comfy sofa, felt at home quickly and would recommend a stay here. Not good if you are unsteady on you feet as lots of stairs and levels in the property which is understandable as very old and quirky

Miss S,
