Description

Omega House is a first floor apartment in an elevated position along Beacon Road in Kingswear's historic Conservation Area. Don Collinson, the owner's father, built the property and is the author of the Chronicles of Dartmouth, a series that was once outselling Harry Potter. This apartment, situated on the Southwest Coast path, has the most beautiful 180 degree views of the River Dart and Dartmouth Castle from looking out to the mouth of the River and into Dartmouth. Open the side gate on to picturesque Princes’ steps, built for Edward VII when he stayed at Riversea with Lily Langtree. Part of the South West Coast Path, now featured on the cover of the book Circular Walks in South Hams, Kingswear is a lovely village with a local village shop, restaurant and pub all within walking distance from the apartment. Opposite the driveway are public steps that lead down to Colin’s Quay the River and mini beach, a great spot to launch a paddle board. Park on the forecourt and never feel you need the move the car for the rest of the week, the Lower Ferry can take you over to Dartmouth for the day, the Bus Stop at the Banjo can take you anywhere from Brixham to Torquay and stops between.

Omega House has a steep private driveway, please be aware this is not suitable for long wheel base and estate vehicles, the Guest parking is at the very top of the driveway and to the left of the property's garage. From the car park space walk up the outdoor steps that lead round to the kitchen door to gain access to the property. As you walk into the property you'll be greeted by the open plan kitchen, dining room and seating area with the most spectacular views of the River Dart. There are sliding doors to the side of the seating area leading out to the balcony. Back inside is the large lounge with wall mounted TV and large windows flooding the room with natural light.

Along the hallway to the rear of the property, is an internal staircase, not for Guests this leads to the Owners storage area on the ground floor of Omega House. The hallway leads to , Bedroom 2 twin and the Master Bedroom at the front of the property that benefit from the glorious views. The family bathroom and additional cloakroom are to the rear of the property and the third bedroom has a River glimpse from the side window. The property is beautifully decorated with love by the Owners and their family, seamlessly mixing antique and contemporary pieces throughout and classic built in features rescued from historic Manor Houses. An eclectic and well loved property.

Reviews

A fantastic location on the quiet side of the river. The best part of the holiday was the view from the living room and balcony, it was very relaxing to sit and watch the boats ebb and flow in and out of the river mouth. The pub on the hill serves great food, with great service. There's a lot more choice over the river and the ferry makes this trivial to visit in minutes. I'd encourage people to walk up the road leading to the property before deciding to drive up, since it's exceptionally tight. The property notes do make this clear, however I was still shocked how tight it gets.

Mr W,

Amazing views. Great location. Very difficult to get an SUV onto the drive or down the road. Worth the pain of that though.

Mr M,

Superb views. Comfortable double beds. Very convenient but quiet location. Good bus and train services so no need for a car.

Miss W,

A great stay in a wonderful house. The views are spectacular.

Dr V,

Great place, Inspite of the long walks to access if you have to leave the car in the quay parking lot. The interior is dated, faded furniture, clumpy chairs and tables. The kitchen is great. The view is magnificent and overcomes the walk, the oldness. Value for money, yes ! view vs facilities.

Mr H,

Fantastic property great location.

Previous Customer,

The View From the House is amazing easy bus routes and Steam Railway to Paignton. Ferry To Dartmouth is easy to get too

Mr Y,

We had a wonderful week, very lucky with the weather. Enjoyed boat and ferry trips and the Steam Train. Walked back from Coleton-fishacre (beautiful National Trust property & gardens) along the SW Coast Path. Going over to Dartmouth on the ferry for breakfast was fun!

Mr L,

A charactful house with stunning views and super location for Kingswear and Dartmouth. The road on arrival is very narrow so check the measurements in the property info. However, we had a lovely week taking in the breathtaking views and ambling around beautiful Dartmouth and Kingswear, so would most certainly come back.

Mrs B,

Beautiful views, good location close to the ferry and 2 nice pubs. Some of the property is rather dated, especially the two smaller bedrooms, however we only used the master. Fully equipped kitchen.

mrs S,

We had a wonderful stay at Omega House, it is very comfortable and homely. The kitchen is extremely well equipped making it easy to prepare and enjoy family meals. The views are spectacular and we really enjoyed being able watch the ever changing comings and goings on the river dart from the floor to ceiling windows. A short walk to the ferry from Kingswear to Dartmouth meant that we didn't need to take the car at all once we were there. I would highly recommend Omega House for its relative peace and tranquility being situated in Kingswear with the hustle and bustle of Dartmouth only being a few minutes away. The best of both worlds!

Ms J,

What a fantastic house in a fabulous location! We have loved our stay here. I could look at that view for hours (and I did!) So many great days out just on your doorstep. Lovely food at The Steam Packet Inn, great cream tea at Bayards Cove, Dartmouth

Past Customer,

We had a fabulous holiday in your home. The view is absolutely wonderful and we were so blessed with brilliant weather. We enjoyed the round robin tour and the Naval Academy was highly recommended too.

Past Customer,

This is our second visit to Omega House. We've really enjoyed the beautiful views - though sadly, due to the soggy weather, mostly we've been inside this visit. Just about to pop a cork on the balcony whilst the sun is shining! The weather was gorgeous last time so we'll be back!

Past Customer,

The apartment has amazing views which are absolutely the star of the show at the property. I would recommend the apartment for the views alone. Watching the boats go down the river Dart and the view of the castle and out to sea are stunning. There was a lovely kitchen with great amenities including a dishwasher which was fabulous. There was a recently upgraded bathroom which was really nice.In other places the accomodation was a little dated but who cares the views more than made up for that. We loved the location and the local restaurant.
