Description
The ‘Narrows’ is a Grade II Listed Purbeck stone cottage dating back to the 18th Century and is located in one of the oldest parts of Swanage about 500 metres from the town centre and a similar distance from the picturesque Mill Pond and Parish Church. The cottage is of historic interest and was mentioned in William Masterman Hardy’s book on old Swanage. The High Street between the Town Hall and Townsend Road which was known as The Narrows after German bombing on the 17th August 1942 and the cottage was named after this.Today ‘The Narrows’ offers characterful accommodation with an exceptionally spacious living room with part vaulted ceiling, Purbeck stone fireplaces and flagstone flooring.
The garden floor has the original coffers from when this was the scullery together with the Purbeck stone wall and fireplace used at that time.
A perfect location for exploring the wonderful local area, the property is a 5 minute walk away from the sandy beach and town centre. The benefit of having a local shop within a 2 min walk and a local pub which serves wonderful food also 2 min walk away.
