Description

This perfectly positioned cottage is ideal for those wanting to savour the delights of Canterbury’s historic cobbled streets, featuring an excellent choice of restaurants, pubs, and a mix of boutique and popular high street shops. Enjoy a tour of the magnificent cathedral or perhaps a trip to The Canterbury Tales, to immerse yourself in the medieval past of the city. Take a trip to the Marlow Theatre or go on a summer boating punt along the River Stour - just some of the many things to see and do in this wonderful part of Kent. For those looking to explore further afield, the pretty seaside town of Whitstable is just 8 miles away, whilst rolling countryside and an abundance of footpaths can be found surrounding Canterbury itself. Canterbury East Railway Station is less than a mile away, with links to London.

The front door of this beautiful early-Victorian cottage that has been lovingly restored and decorated in a fresh mid-century style opens onto the comfortably furnished lounge/diner. It features a sofa and comfy armchairs, a warming wood burner and a Smart TV. From the lounge area, head through to the dining space that offers a large dining table with seating for all. Enjoy delicious meals that have been whipped up in the compact yet well-equipped kitchen, which features an electric oven and gas hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tabletop dishwasher, Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine, and microwave. For the ultimate in family entertainment, a door from the lounge leads down a set of stairs into the basement that has been fitted out as a cosy cinema room with a large Smart TV. Grab your fizzy pop, ice cream, and popcorn and while away an evening watching your favourite films. Heading back upstairs and up to the first floor, you will find the first of the three bedrooms: a double, and also a family bathroom with a shower over bath and WC. Stairs from the landing lead up to the second floor, and here you will find another double room and a twin room with views across to the cathedral. All duvets and pillows are Fogarty duck down and feather, hypoallergenic duvets and pillows available on request.

A door from the kitchen leads out to a courtyard garden with patio table and chairs and a charcoal BBQ - the perfect spot for enjoying a spot of al fresco dining on a warm evening. Parking is available 200 metres away in the public car park, subject to daily charges and availability.

Reviews

Beautiful interior, great location, friendly and generous host. We stayed with a large family. The separate movie room was nice for relaxing.

Ms D,

Owner was very attentive and helpful, particularly in recommending restaurants and places to go. Beds and sofas were super comfy and basement room was great in the hot weather and particularly appreciated by my teenager. We had a lovely time and would recommend.

Miss L,

Excellent and convenient location to explore the beauty of the city, especially the cathedral. The bedrooms and living areas offer plenty of character and charm, designed by an owner who understands colour and style. Michelle was highly attentive and responsive to our needs.. Public car park nearby was safe, but register before you arrive to ensure smooth operation of your vehicle. Recommend this gem.

Mr C,

Beautifully located, stylish and very comfortable home that is a stones throw from Canterbury centre. Lots of pubs restaurants and shops nearby. The house is very well equipped and the beds are incredibly comfortable, each room is decorated beautifully and the host has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable, from interesting books, games and art, to the cinema room with cocktails to the pillow menu! Loved it here & would happily recommend to anyone.

Good central location about 10 minutes walk to central Canterbury. Very comfortable beds and modern furnishings throughout. Great opportunities to eat out nearby and close to the lovely coastal towns of Deal and Whitstable.

Previous g,

What a gem! The property is so close to the centre of Canterbury, and there is a lovely friendly pub and coffee shop at the end of the street. The owner was very friendly also, meeting us at the property to ensure we knew how everything worked and the supplies she left for us to enjoy were very thoughtful. The house had everything you needed including the cinema room in the cellar which was nice and cool to use as the weather was so hot when we stayed. You certainly won’t be disappointed!
