This fantastic 4 Star Gold apartment is ideally situated overlooking Bowness on Windermere, with all the local amenities only a short walk away.

Elterwater Apartment is a ground floor apartment consisting of a large living area including a Smart TV with a Netflix account provided, comfortable seating and plenty of games and books to unwind to after a days sightseeing. The ground floor includes a double bedroom and a lovely family bathroom with an over bath shower, perfect to soak those sore legs after an epic day on the fells. The large modern kitchen has everything you possibly need, if you fancy a break from the great selection of restaurants on your doorstep. With a farmhouse table, the kitchen is the hub of this beautiful apartment. 

Just off the kitchen is a small private courtyard area with seating. A little sun trap ideal for your morning coffee.

The stairs to the lower ground floor lead to a spacious bedroom with an en-suite shower and WC. The lower ground floor bedroom features a super-king zip and link bed, that can be split into twins on request.

WIFI is complimentary throughout the property.

There is one dedicated parking space for Elterwater Apartment and use of 6 shared visitor spaces.

We really enjoyed our stay at Elterwater apartment. The location and parking were perfect as was the layout of the accommodation. It was very comfortable and the beds were great. The damp smell mentioned by others was an issue and was not improved by the dehumidifier or reed diffusers. Other than that, we loved it and would recommend.

Good place but could have been so much better. The good:- Lovely location, just a few minutes walk into town, albeit down a very steep hill. Spacious hallway into a lovely large lounge. Ground floor bedroom very comfortable with bathroom/toilet next door. Well equipped kitchen with good quality crockery, cutlery and glassware. Car parking was good. The not so good:- Check-in time is 5:00pm! Check-out time is 10:00am. We received a message shortly before arrival instructing us NOT to ask for an earlier check-in or a later check-out as that would not be possible. We couldn't find any guest information book anywhere. (Found the Wi-Fi password on the base of the router in hallway.) The property is advertised as having a Netflix account. Although it is a smart TV with the Neflix app (amongst others) the password is not provided. So, unless you know your own log-in details from home, you won’t be able to access it. It appeared that the gas supply to the main lounge gas fire had been isolated as it refused to light. Central heating was a nightmare to control. If activated, it ran to the next hour only i.e. if activated at 5:45pm it turned itself off at 6:00pm and had to be reactivated until 7:00pm etc. There is also a very warning about “Excessive use of the heating may incur additional costs.” Downstairs ensuite bedroom had a very strong damp/musty smell. We had to leave dehumidifier on all the time to try to improve it. Ensuite toilet (Saniflo type) didn't flush properly. My daughter and her husband insisted on sleeping downstairs as they didn't think it suitable for my husband who has health issues. According to the guest book, the owners acknowledged the dampness issue in 2022 and stated that the dehumidifier was a temporary solution. Only one toilet roll per bathroom. Considering we were four adults on a three day stay, that was a little mean. There were no toiletries or shower products left in either shower room. Nothing whatsoever left by way of a welcome pack; no tea, coffee, or milk. They would have been welcome after a long drive. All in all, the property gave the impression of being a penny pinching venture run for maximum profit. It would have cost very little to address all the above matters, and to have made it a much more pleasurable stay. Very disappointing. We wouldn't stay here again and until the issues are addressed, we would not recommend anybody else to book. Currently, it is not a 4* property in our opinion despite the cost of rental.

Comfortable and well appointed. We had no guest information which may have just been an oversight. Would have appreciated dishcloth, foil, cling film etc in kitchen. However, after saying that, we had a lovely holiday and would stay again.

Very spacious and warm comfortable property in a quiet area. Many nice period features, high ceilings and bay window. Well equipped modern style kitchen. Beds very comfortable. Good bathrooms. Very close to shops (Tesco express not far and a Booths at Windemere station). A few minutes walk to Pier side area. Good local bus service. Note the short distance from the bottom of Helm Rd. to the property entrance is very steep. Good parking area to front. Very satisfied with our stay (April 2024).
