Description

Fell View is a beautifully converted 17th-century farmhouse, lovingly restored keeping many original features, oak beams, Lakeland slate floors and exposed brick walls. The house is steeped in history being once owned by the cousin of William Wordsworth, who has been said to have visited the property and the adjoining Chapel.

You enter the house from the covered porch area which leads directly into the well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Slate floors and oak beams start here and continue throughout the ground floor where you have a large lounge and dining area with a fantastic fireplace and log burner. This room is spacious and full of character and is is a perfect setting to relax and converse with your holiday companions.

The ground floor also has a walk-in shower and wet room, tiled throughout and finished to a high quality.

The upstairs room has the two king size beds with a sliding door separating the two rooms, perfect as a family room or using the door, the room can be split off into two separate bedrooms (you will still have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other), this open space also has the magnificent bathroom with standalone bath with views across the fells, perfect for a long relaxing soak at the end of the day.

Fell View is extremely dog-friendly (and horse) and there is even a little treat for your 4 legged friends on arrival.

Outside, there is an enclosed garden/seating area where you can take in delightful views of the Whicham Valley, Black Combe Fell and even the start of the Coniston Fells. There are great walks straight from your doorstep and Silecroft beach isn't far from Fell View, which is the perfect location to take your dog for a walk.

Fell View is a truly impressive cottage in a stunning location, quiet, peaceful yet a perfect base to explore the Southern Lake District.

Fell View Cottage requires guests to be capable of self-evacuation within a reasonable time based on the fire risk assessment.
Bedrooms are situated on the first floor, accessed via a steep staircase, so the ability to evacuate promptly is necessary.
The fire alarm system emits a loud audible warning throughout the property upon activation, but it does not accommodate specific visual or audio impairments

Fell View can be booked with the neighbouring properties The Chapel (GL095) and Dog Crag Cabin (LD155) to sleep up to 8 guests. Please enquire for more details.

Reviews

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Great that it is so dog friendly, as it is hard to find cottages that take more than one or two dogs. Bedroom arrangements require guests to know one another well, as ensuite bedroom accesses the rest of the property through the second bedroom. Free range hen and duck eggs a nice treat!

Mr R,

We had a lovely holiday at Fell View. Comfortable, cosy cottage and the owner was welcoming and was around to answer any questions we had. It's in a great location with quiet tracks to walk the dog, away from the busy roads. The views are stunning. Also really close to beautiful Silecroft beach which has a great cafe for lunch. Grocery shops/petrol station within easy reach in Millom. Everything we needed for a peaceful country break, we look forward to returning!

Dr F,

A fantastic cottage in a lovely secluded corner of The Lake District. Louise is a fantastic host and we can’t wait to return.

Mr J,

We couldn't have asked for a better host. Louise was very friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived all the way through to when we checked-out. The property was perfectly stocked with high-quality kitchen equipment as well as logs and firelighters for the wood burner. Not to mention the mattress which was extremely comfortable. If you want to stay in a more secluded part of the Lake District with both beaches and great hikes just a 5 minutes drive away then I can't recommend this place enough.

Mr S,

Fantastic property and location is ideal for the coast and visiting the lakes which are a short drive in each direction

Mr I,

The cottage is in a beautiful quiet location with amazing views. It’s very comfortable with a lovely garden and stone floors downstairs so perfect for dogs, with walking from the door. Louise the owner was truly welcoming - nothing was too much trouble .

Ms L,

Lovely comfortable cottage located in a beautiful setting , the bath makes it special after a long day treaking … to relax and look at the world outside .

Mrs I,

A lovley property in a scenic quiet location. Good facilities that made for a very enjoyable stay. The location is amazing, superb walks on the doorstep, stunning beaches near by. Great for outdoor adventures and your pooches too.

Miss M,

Rather disappointing. The standard of the accommodation was not worth the money charged plus it is on the edge of the Lake district with an hour drive to reach the lakes.

Ms J,

Stayed for a week in Fell View in mid May 2024. Access is up some quite steep steps but I believe there is an alternative access through the owner’s property. This is a totally dog friendly cottage. We took three dogs. The enclosed garden is quite small but less than 100 yards up the road there is a bridleway with a good track to walk the dogs and Silecroft Beach is a five minute drive away. The bed was comfortable and the cottage was very well equipped. Louise the owner was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely location, comfortable property, totally dog friendly; what more could we have asked for!

Mr L,

A lovely very comfortable, refurbished restored property. Will be planning to return in the near future.

Mrs L,

Beautiful property with everything you need in a perfect location for walks with the dogs. Wonderful host. Thankyou Louise

Mr M,

This is a lovely cottage which is full of character and located in a beautiful setting. The cottage is equipped with everything you could wish for including very good wifi and there was even a Tassimo coffee machine. Louise, the owner has thought of everything whilst retaining the essence of a stone built cottage and was the perfect host with great communication, help and advice. The log burner and plentiful supply of logs made our winter stay even cosy and very homely. This cottage is ideal for those with dogs in terms of location for walks, the secure garden and flag stone floors which are easy to clean from muddy paws. We cannot recommend this cottage enough. We will definitely return.

Mr R,

The cottage was perfect for what we wanted, which was to have a place we could relax with our dogs after a very long walk in the surroundings!! The host was super friendly and helpful. Made us feel extremely welcome!
