Description

Perched above the village of Chapel Stile with glorious views across to Lingmoor Fell and further down the valley towards the magnificent Langdales, Toffee Cottage is a beautifully presented terraced cottage for your Lake District getaway.

The cottage has been completely renovated providing a modern, stylish, luminous space for you to enjoy in this glorious location, which is surrounded by the breathtaking, ever-changing scenic tapestry of the Lake District.

Enter the cottage through the porch which houses the washer/dryer and has storage for coats and boots used for your days exploring this wonderful location. Step into the modern slick fully equipped kitchen which includes a dishwasher and little extras such as the digital radio and Nespresso machine. Also on the ground floor is a lovely contemporary bathroom with T bath shower allowing you extra space when taking a shower but of course you can also relax and have a soak after your day of fresh Lakeland air and exertion on the fells.

Stepping across the hall is the first of the two attractive bedrooms which is a twin bedded room with cheerful colourful decor, and the generous double room with king size bed upstairs has some sloping ceilings, built in storage and simply stunning views from the window.

The open plan lounge and dining area look out onto Lingmoor Fell, with the comfortable seating and the dining table all looking out towards the fells, you may find yourself admiring this superb natural vista instead of the TV. Step outside and you have a table and chairs to enjoy this wonderful setting with a morning coffee or your favourite tipple. The lawned area is shared between the cottages on this row. Outside the porch entrance to the left, we have another thoughtful extra with the doggy shower area.

Set in the Langdale Valley, this lovely cottage is a couple of minutes walk to the Chapel Stile village facilities, including a shop and pub and the Langdale hotel. Also on the doorstep, just an extra 10 mins walk is pretty Elterwater village with the famous Britannia pub and other eatery choices here, too. You are spoilt for choice with walking from the door and breathtaking scenery in every direction. This excellent location is also close to Grasmere, Coniston and Ambleside so is a remarkable location for exploring and having a truly memorable holiday in all seasons.

Toffee Cottage nestles at the top of a short, steep driveway that takes full advantage of the wonderful views, perfectly easy in a car and with plenty of space in the free car parking area to leave your car and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Please be advised that the Sky TV package excludes Sky Sports.

Reviews

The cottage is in a delightful village with good access to walks, and close to a pub and shop. It was very comfortable and very well equipped with lovely views across the valley and a very sunny south facing garden. It was a bonus to have the patio doors in the lounge area and be able to appreciate the picturesque landscape. The bedrooms were fairly small and I bumped my head on the sloping ceiling several times in the room upstairs but it was light and sunny and I would not let this deter me from booking again. The whole cottage is what you would call compact, but it works well, especially the entrance lobby where coats, boots and rucksacks could be stored. The bath towels were the best I've encountered as they were large and soft, a rarity at the many places in which I have stayed during the last few years.

Mrs J,

Great location. Walking and pubs on the doorstep.

Mr S,

Lovely location and great views. Nice clean well equipped cottage. Just watch the steep access track, could be tricky in icy weather.

Mr De K,

An excellent cottage in a great location

Mr J,

We loved our stay in Toffee Cottage. The cottage was comfortable and warm during our February stay and the views are beautiful. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Mrs J,

We had a lovely stay at Toffee Cottage over the Christmas period. The cottage itself is very clean and cosy, and has everything you could need and more, warm and lots of hot water. The scenery is beautiful, and as you are situated at the top of quite a steep hill, you really do get to appreciate the peace and quiet of the area, the area itself is really well situated for several lovely walks and the pub down the road is great and dog friendly. We did take our dog with us and we appreciated the offering of dog bowls and treats, the garden is fairly well enclosed too. The only thing I would say is that if you are a fan of a firmer pillow, then you may want to take your own as they were a little soft for us, the beds however are very comfortable and the linens/ towels provided were spotless. Wonderful stay which we enjoyed thoroughly.

Miss C,

Lovely comfortable cottage in a stunning location with fantastic views of the surrounding fells. Cottage was really well equipped and had everything you might need during your stay. Excellent porch entrance with plenty of room to dry clothes and boots - it was a bit damp but it is the Lake District! Plenty of parking available. The drive up to the cottage is a bit steep but you get used to it. Plenty of hot water and a great shower. Local shop and pubs close by and lots of walks straight from the door. Overall definately recommend .

Mr R,

Brilliant location. The well-stocked village shop and famous Wainwright pub are both an easy short walk. (We found the off-road path at the entrance to the campsite). The cottage is compact & exceptionally well equipped. Plenty of hot water with lovely shower, efficient heating if needed and the bed was comfortable - duvet excellent. I appreciated the doggy washing facility at the front door and the porch to hang wet coats and leave damp walking boots. The view from the sitting room is beautiful (even in cloud). There are so many walks directly from the cottage. An excellent bus service if you don't want to move the car; all the big Lakes attractions within easy reach. I was staying with my dog so we had plenty of room. Internet is also good.

Mrs M,

Great location. The surrounding views are stunning. Pubs and cafes close by (10-15min walk). Buses run into Ambleside. Lots of places for dogs to swim in the river. Just a note that the drive up to the cottage is steep (not a problem for us). Plenty of parking. Tilly loved the doggie biscuits. The porch was really useful for boots and drying out clothes. Shower was lovely and hot and bed was comfy. Kitchen well equipped. We had a great stay.

Mrs S,

We had a really good few days at Toffee Cottage. The location was excellent and we did some lovely local walks. The cottage was well equipped, with a great view from the lounge. It was very quiet and peaceful and we were very relaxed . The local pub was welcoming and the local shop was very well stocked. We wished we could stay longer!

Mrs L,

Absolutely fantastic location for a pleasant lake district holiday. Multiple pubs and walks straight from the door.

Mr C,

The views from the cottage are excellent. Snow topped mountains looked beautiful.

Mr B,

Lovely clean and tidy cottage in a fantastic location..we will definitely return, we would highly recommend Toffee Cottage.

Mr M,

Very cosy with great views and no light pollution for star gazing. So many walks from the doorstep with a cracking pub just down the road.

Mrs S,

We've had a fantastic week. What a beautiful location and perfect cottage Have enjoyed exploring the Langdales and the weather has been an added bonus! Thanks for a lovely stay.

Past Customer,

Many thanks for a great few days! Lovely cottage, great location. First time in the Lakes! A marvellous break!

Past Customer,

A bit windy and wet at times but still comfortable, peaceful and restful. Enjoyed our time and would like to return.

Past Customer,

I've enjoyed the views across beautiful Langdale and watching the antics of birds on feeders - including a young Sparrow hawk who was practicing its hunting skills on the hydrangeas! Despite mixed weather we have done some lovely walks - Cathedral Caves/Slaters Bridge was a big hit with the kids and they also enjoyed some impromptu ghyll scrambling up Stickle Ghyll on the way up to Stickle tarn. Thanks Claire for tip on the wonderful wild swimming spot under the bridge opposite the cottage - crystal clear water and mountain views - absolutely gorgeous, I'd swim there every day if I could! Thanks for a lovely stay in your cosy, well equipped cottage and for your quick replies to my texts.

Past Customer,

A perfect week, great accommodation, great views, walks, scenery - the list goes on. Chesters on the River is a lovely little pit stop for coffee, lunch and cake. Very sad to be going home!

Past Customer,

Second time here this year. Managed more walks this time than in June! So many to do from door. Cottage provided all we needed again and is located in such a fantastic area o the Lakes. See you next year.

Past Customer,
