Description

Located in the centre of the picturesque Lakeland village of Elterwater, the gateway to the iconic Langdale Valley, Anniversary Cottage is in the perfect location for those who require a well equipped and comfortable holiday cottage.

Anniversary Cottage has been transformed to create a luxurious home away from home, having been newly decorated with Little Greene Company paint, designer wallpaper and local Herdwick wool carpets. New lighting and artwork completes the interior and the owners have created a very warm, inviting and comfortable property.

Being a traditional stone bungalow, it's ideal for those who may need accommodation on one level. With mature, enclosed gardens and views of Lingmoor Fell from the living area, and covered veranda outside, this is a fantastic property with stunning views.

The living area consists of two comfortable sofas, a large smart TV and dual aspect windows overlooking the garden and fells beyond. There's also a lovely multi fuel burner for those evenings when only the atmosphere and flicker of a real flame will do. The dining table, seating six, is also in this very spacious room making it an ideal room to relax in after a day of exploring or walking.

From the living area there's a door that leads directly to the covered veranda and garden. With seating provided this is great place for you to enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple whilst taking in the beautiful vistas of the Lakeland Fells. Please be mindful as there is a drop into the garden from the outside veranda, children and infants should be supervised at all times.

Anniversary Cottage has three spacious bedrooms, each tastefully decorated in complementary colours and wallpapers, and accessed from the central corridor. Two of the bedrooms have luxurious king size beds and the third is a twin room with two single beds and all have plenty of storage.

The galley style kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need for your stay: dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, double oven, induction hob, and all the accessories you could possibly need, including a slow cooker and a Nespresso machine. The owners of Anniversary Cottage take great pride in the cottage and this is reflected in the quality and thought that has gone into the accommodation.

The property has two bathrooms. The splendid family bathroom is located just off of the central hallway and it is complete with a WC, large walk-in shower, separate bath, dual fuel heated towel rail and underfloor central heating to keep you nice and snug. Additionally, just off the kitchen, there is a newly installed 2nd bathroom with WC, shower, heated towel rail and basin.

Anniversary Cottage also features the added bonus of a games room with a darts board, small pool table and fussball. This is the perfect room for those few rainy days we get in the Lake District.

The cottage is right in the centre of Elterwater village, with the iconic Britannia Inn only a 2-minute walk away. Chapel Stile, with it's general store and pub, is a 10 min walk. Slightly further afield you have the riverside footpath to Skelwith Force. The magnificent Langdale Valley with its endless walks, for all abilities, is easily accessible by foot or public transport with the bus stop only 30 metres away.

Anniversary Cottage is a fantastic well-equipped cottage in the perfect location for your Lake District break. Please be advised, neither a travel cot nor highchair are available at Anniversary Cottage.

Off street gated parking is provided for up to 3 cars. The garden is enclosed and includes a lockable shed for guests use.

Reviews

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location always warm and cosy to come back to, super comfy beds and the best view rain or shine

Ms B,

Spacious and comfortable cottage in quiet country location. Easy access to Cumbrian Way and to Ambleside. Good old fashioned pub nearby.

Mr H,

A lovely comfortable cottage with everything you need including a games room, a good location with lots of lovely walks from the door and a good pub nearby. Will definitely return to Anniversary Cottage.

Mrs N,

A lovely cottage. Very comfortable. A big thank you for the welcome card from the owners.

Mrs A,

Excellent. Perfect location. Well equipped. Lovely views. We had a great week with superb weather, but this was made better by returning to such a nice property each day.

Mr W,

Our second visit to this very desirable property, everything we needed and more. Beautiful location. Highly recommended it.

Mrs N,

We have been twice now and love this cottage. Has everything you need. Nice touch from owners on sending us a postcard to welcome us. Sadly we had to leave early due to an illness in our party. Britannia pub is great though pints getting more and more expensive. Take a walk down to Chester by the river. Don’t read negative reviews on website regarding chesters it’s great food and a lovely walk to and from the cottage. Hope to visit again soon.

Mrs B,

Anniversary Cottage is the nicest house I’ve stayed at. It has absolutely everything you need and the location is perfect.

Mrs K,

Fantastic setting and cottage. Very well equipped and comfortable. Excellent communication from Original Cottages. We had a lovely week and hope to be back.

Ms D,

Lovely property - well located and very comfortable. Two maintenance issues - 1. The TV remote control was not working properly, so I had to replace the two AAA batteries with new ones, which solved the problem. 2. When it rained heavily, water was squirting out of a joint (about 1 metre above ground level) in the gutter downpipe at the far end of the veranda at the back of the house. I suspect the drain that it feeds into is blocked, so the water pressure is forcing water out of the joint.

Mr B,

Anniversary Cottage is a lovely warm, comfortable and very well equipped cottage with a beautiful outside space. Games room very welcome on a rainy day. Will definitely return, thanks Original Cottages for brilliant service.

Mrs N,

Anniversary Cottage is in a fantastic location. We didn’t use our car once during our stay as there were so many fantastic walks straight from the property. One day we walked over to Grasmere and then got the open top bus into Ambleside (come approx every 20 mins) and then another bus back to Elterwater (they’re roughly every 2 hours). We were walking distance of at least three pubs/restaurants with The Britannia being about a 2 minute walk. We used the Langdale CoOp at Chapel Style for all our groceries and that’s a 10/15 minute walk along the riverside (half a mile there). The house itself was super comfortable (two couples & a single adult) with glorious views. We cooked in 5 of the 7 nights and the kitchen had everything that we needed. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside most evenings too. The beds were large & comfortable with cotton bedding and big, decent towels. Both bathrooms were decent too with great water pressure to the showers. The only area for comment was the kitchen which could do with some attention in places. For instance, the washing machine was grimy on the rubber inside the door, the cooker extractor needed new grease filters and a bit of a clean, some of the cupboard fronts needed a good wipe & there were a few cobwebs. Nothing earth shattering but just made the difference between a good and fantastic review which is a shame as everywhere else was absolutely lovely. The new carpet throughout is just gorgeous and we all just loved the decor in the bedrooms and sitting room. We would definitely recommend this super comfortable property as an ideal base for walking in the Langdales.
