Description

This fabulous semi-detached Lakeland stone cottage in the village of Grasmere is a perfect retreat for those wanting glorious views, walks straight from your door and it's only a 5 minutes stroll from the village of Grasmere with its array of restaurants, shops and drinking holes.

The cottage is all on one level making it ideal for those who require no stairs. Through the covered porch (handy for leaving those muddy boots in) you have the hallway with the living room directly to your left as you enter, here you have comfortable seating on two sofas and dual aspect windows giving you glorious vistas towards sour milk ghyll and the fells beyond. If you ever tire of the view there is a well-stocked library, flat screen TV and DVD player for you to enjoy.

Continuing along the hallway you have the two bedrooms. Both bedrooms are light and airy with countryside views from the windows and offer plenty of storage space for your stay; they each have an en suite shower room.

Finally, we have the kitchen and dinner, this has been completely refurbished with a modern feel and is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, oven and fridge and all that you could possibly need for your holiday. In this room, we also have the farmhouse style kitchen table, perfect for the family to gather around plan your day's activities.

Outside you have access to two areas, directly outside the kitchen you have a small enclosed garden area with table and chairs, and across the quiet road, you have another riverside location with picnic table, a lovely spot to enjoy the fantastic scenery. You may be lucky to see one of the red squirrels which make regular visits to the gardens to feed.

There is an abundance of walks directly from your door with Easdale Tarn only a short hike away.

Grasmere village is only a short distance away, here you have a selection of restaurants, bars and local shops and not forgetting the famous Grasmere gingerbread shop where you can pick up a treat for yourself or a gift to take with you.

Private Parking is provided across the quiet road 5m from the property.

WIFI is provided throughout the property. Phone signal isn't reliable at the property but easily found if you walk 2 minutes down the road.

Reviews

A wonderful cottage with the most delightful view to wake up to every day. Fantastic location with everything you need for a week’s walking and great walks from the doorstep and easy walk into town. Would definitely recommend and would come back here.

Mrs A,

A friendly, caring owner and a comfortable, very well equipped cottage gave us a restful home for a week. The view across the Valley towards Sour Milk Ghyll Waterfall was a glorious sight to see. I have been visiting the Lake District for the last 70 years and it never fails to uplift and inspire me.

Mrs L,

Beautiful location with stunning views. Very helpful friendly owner. We stayed for 2 weeks and didn’t want to leave! Very comfortable accommodation and had everything we needed. Was very pleased to find that the washing machine was a washer dryer! Would highly recommend and will return.

Mrs C,

The cottage has such a view and the wild birds on the bird feeders to was a treat to watch. We will come back soon as it has to be one of the best cottages we have stayed in the last twenty years of coming to the Lakes.

Mrs W,

We had a fabulous week. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and cosy and was situated in the most spectacular countryside location. The views from the cottage were breathtaking; waterfalls, streams and fells. So many excellent walks from the doorstep and Grasmere centre was 10 mins away for pubs and shops. The owner Alison was so welcoming and helpful. We will definitely return.

Mrs H,

Superb cottage in a great location. Short walk into Grassmere. Great views from windows. Walks right from your door. Best place we have stayed in for ages

Mrs T,

The cottage was absolutely perfect, we couldn't have asked for more. Beautiful building, lovely garden with seating, spectacular views, good sized rooms and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Alison was so lovely and helpful. Amazing walks right from the front door and a short walk to Grasmere village with plenty of shops, cafes, pubs and a very handy Co-op for essentials. We didn't want to leave!

Mrs K,

We had a perfect week at Oak Lodge Cottage. The location is stunning, with the beck and river views up the valley. The garden is gorgeous, the perfect size and proportion, with pretty pots and shrubs and privacy for watching passers by whilst not being watched!, great for sitting out with morning coffee or evening tipple, it gets the sun for most of the day. The cottage is very well equipped and extremely comfortable and clean. It was cosy in the evening and when the sun was setting the best view of Tarn Crag can be had from the picnic table in the field which also belongs to the cottage. It is a mere 15 minute walk into town and it is possible to do many wonderful fell walks, challenging and not so, imediately out of the garden gate. The week we stayed in June we had beautiful weather and spent almost all our time outside. There are a number of good pubs, many nice eateries and the Co op will provide all essentials for self catering. We loved using all the facilities in the very well equipped kitchen. This is the most lovely spot for a holiday and we can't wait to come back. Lovely friendly host too in Alison who offered to be on hand if we needed her. We would highly recommend Oak Lodge Cottage as a great destination for nature lovers and walkers.....thank you

Mr L,

Mr M,

Lovely cottage, quiet location but easy walk to amenities. The host was very friendly and helpful. Very well equipped. Would recommend to friends and family.

Mrs W,

Oak Lodge is a lovely peaceful quiet cosy cottage beautifully situated with magical views out towards Sour Milk Ghyll. We loved our stay here, felt totally at home and enjoyed using the well-equipped kitchen for self-catering. There are wonderful walks right from the doorstep and Grasmere is a lovely village and base perfectly placed for exploring further afield. The cottage was perfect for us being all on one level inside (with just a couple of steps from the front door). One of the things we loved most was watching the wonderful array of birds who came and visited the feeders, and of course the red squirrels. Seeing two chasing each other around the tree was a real highlight. Definitely worth taking a pair of binoculars - so much to observe. Thanks also to Alison who is on site and a friendly helpful host should you need to pick her brains about cats, alternative routes to Easedale Tarn when the path is flooded, and other random queries.

Miss M,

cottage was comfortable, cosy and tidy with lovely views. There is a selection of shops near by including a co-op Cafe, restaurants and pubs.
