As winter arrives in the Lake District the trees become bare, and frost carpets the ground on a fresh clear morning, the Herdwick sheep wear their thickest fleeces and the adventurer enjoys the seclusion of the quietest time to visit this popular World Heritage Site. With snow on the fell tops the Lake District is positively glistening at this magical time of year. The Winter months are a great time of year to visit if you want some peace and quiet, and to avoid the crowds.
