Description

The property has a number of environmentally sustainable features including an air to water heat pump and hot water generated by solar panels. The property is also cleaned using eco-friendly refillable products purchased locally from Little Green Footprints Co and Smol, to help reduce plastic waste.

Very comfortably and tastefully furnished, the cottage has retained a great deal of its original character and charm with exposed beams throughout and solid oak flooring. Open plan living accommodation leads to two bedrooms which both have the flexibility of providing king size or twin beds. The cottage has its own private south facing garden which overlooks the owner's paddock where farm animals are sometimes grazing. Both the cottage and the garden enjoy spectacular views over open farmland and across the Ribble Valley.

The hamlet of Dutton is an ideal base for exploring the whole of the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland, and there are some beautiful walks from the cottage through the surrounding open farmland. The Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach and the Lake District is approximately an hours drive.

Reviews

Lovely well equipped cottage

Mrs B,

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday in the cottage and enjoyed visiting interesting places nearby

Mrs D,

Really enjoyed our stay, beautiful location, everything there you need.

Mrs A,

Very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Good locations with lots of good walks nearby.

Mr C,

This is the most delightful and well appointed cottage in a brilliant location. The space is brilliant and the beds super comfortable and spacious. Showers powerful and lovely hot water. The owners are excellent and so helpful and easily contactable. We enjoyed lots of local activities for our young children. Ribchester Roman museum with their summer craft activity, Clitheroe castle and the East Lancashire railway (book a week in advance to get the best deals) were all excellent days out. Lytham St Anne's was a beautiful beach day, and we also enjoyed the Bowland wild boar park. We don't get to do too much walking with young children, but what we did was beautiful and there are plenty of footpaths directly from the cottage as well as others close by. The Tolkien trail has a wide range of routes to follow for all lengths and ability. There are also lots of excellent local pubs if you want to eat out, although we made use of the excellent kitchen at the cottage and the wonderful views from the cottage garden in the sun. It is worth saying that the garden is accessible from the drive and not directly from inside the cottage, but that was not an issue for us at all as it was safe for our children to negotiate between the house and garden on their own. We would highly recommend this cottage and happily return to the area again.

Mrs D,

Lovely location, perfect cottage, really friendly welcome.

Mr D,

Lovely house ideally situated

Mrs D,

The cottage was ideal for our group - 2 couples, young baby and a dog. It was welcoming and well-equipped with great walks nearby and lots to do in the area.

Prof M,

Cottage was brilliant, had everything we needed for an excellent stay - lovely to have a break from real life and this was just what we needed thank you!

Mrs H,

A beautiful cottage, owner was very helpful with tips for local walks. Would definitely stay here again if holidaying in the area.

Mr W,

Wonderful location and super comfy beds. What more could we ask? Thank you Nickie.

Past Customer,

Wow! This cottage really does have it all. Nickie has been a very accommodating and helpful host, the area is stunning and we've enjoyed days out to Blackpool and the stepping stones at Whitewell - take wellies! Thanks for a relaxing and cosy weekend.

Past Customer,

Really enjoyed the cottage. Beautiful area, did lots of walks despite the rain. Would love to return in a dryer season. Thank you Nickie.

Past Customer,

Davis Gate Cottage exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by a warm, clean, and cozy atmosphere. The very well-equipped kitchen made cooking a breeze, and the spacious layout gave us room to relax. The lovely welcome pack with tea, coffee, and biscuits was a delightful touch. Pictures truly don't do justice to the charm of this place. Plus, our host was incredibly accommodating. If you're seeking a peaceful retreat, Davis Gate Cottage is the ultimate choice!

Miss Vella T,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage and despite the weather enjoyed some lovely walks and visited some good pubs for food and drinks, our favourite being the Inn at White well. Plenty of supermarkets in Longridge.

Mrs S,

We had a really lovely time at Davis Gate Cottage, cosy, clean and well equipped.

Mrs Y,

What a fantastic cottage - ideal for 4 of us over the Christmas period. Beautiful location and it had everything we could have asked for - very well equipped and Nickie could not have been more helpful when we needed anything. We loved the cosiness of the place and despite not the best weather, the cottage is in an ideal location for walking. The log burning stove was a hit and we would certainly consider visiting again when we are next looking for somewhere to rent in the area. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Mrs C,

We had a lovely visit to this great holiday cottage with our Labrador; great location. Thank you to our host!

Mrs H,

Lovely stay for family wedding, would recommend. See you again soon.

Past Customer,

Enjoyable break, lovely cottage.

Past Customer,

A great weeks' holiday. Lovely cottage, very well equipped and in a superb location.

Past Customer,

A wonderful, peaceful location. Lovely walks, despite the rain! A kind and thoughtful host, thank you.

Past Customer,

Beautiful, peaceful cottage and location. Loved watching the Barn Owls, thank you Nickie.

Past Customer,

Lovely property, spacious and very functional as we had dogs with us, we appreciated that the furniture was robust. Enormous beds and very well equipped kitchen. Excellent views from the garden, which is sunny in the evening. We were very happy with our holiday.

Mrs C,

Excellent, except for rather uneven turning place for our car at bottom of cobbled driveway. It needs to be levelled off. A warning about fast-moving and invisible traffic from the right at top of driveway next to exit onto main road would also be advisable. Depending on the time of day this exit could be extremely dangerous.

Mr Andrew B,

Location

The Forest of Bowland is located in the Ribble Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideal for walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers, with many footpaths and forest trails surrounding the area. Beautiful scenery and pretty villages are amongst the main attractions of the area, as well as excellent garden centres. It is also an ideal central location for visiting the whole of the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the Ribble Valley, not forgetting the West Coast. The market towns of Skipton and Clitheroe are also within easy reach.
