Dilham House

Dilham House is an elegant, classic, Georgian country house with topiary gardens, sumptuous interiors and the wow factor.  The house offers beautiful boutique style living, perfect for relaxing holidays with family and friends and is also an idyllic house for celebratory weekends, when the occasion arises.  An abundance of home comforts with an eclectic mix of antique pieces and modern design, original art and authenticity intertwine inside.  The roaring fires will make you feel welcome in the winter and the al fresco dining in the topiary garden on warmer nights, will induce star gazing, animated conversation and happy memories.   All the double bedrooms have their own luxurious style and there is plenty of space to entertain with two sitting rooms, a fabulous kitchen and a library-filled dining room.  The gardens in the summer are a sight to behold and croquet is available on the main lawn.  Set in picturesque landscape at the top of The Broads National Park and close to the sandy and uninhabited beaches of the east coast, this rural country house will take you under its spell from the moment you walk in the front door. Garden: The gardens are a spectacular feature of the house and extend to 0.5 acres. Lawns, herbaceous borders and mature trees surround the property. Includes a dining table, chairs and many places to sit and relax. There is a charcoal barbeque and croquet set available for warmer days. Please note the garden is not fully enclosed as there is hedgerows between the gardens and the road. Please bring long leads if you feel necessary. 
Parking: Private parking for up to four cars. 
Heating: Oil fired central heating and wood burners.
Pets: Two well behaved pets welcome. Dogs are not permitted on any soft furnishings or carpeted area and upstairs. (please refer to terms and conditions)
Also provided: Towels. Books and games. Wi-Fi. Hairdryer. Travel cot and high chair also provided.
Notes: This is a non-smoking property. Please note there is another holiday property, The Hayloft, next door to Dilham House, which has its own private garden space and entrance, so does not impinge on the main house itself. No pets to be allowed upstairs or on carpeted areas and furniture. All food to be consumed in kitchen/dining table and outdoor table - not in living area please. No shoes on carpeted areas. Please note this property does not accept 3rd party suppliers, and no parties. The owner does live on the grounds, but your privacy is assured.

Dilham is a sleepy Broadland village tucked into an attractive landscape at the top of The Broads National Park.  There are meandering walks around Dilham, Honing and East Ruston, including part of the Weavers' Way, a long-distance footpath running from Cromer on the north Norfolk coast to Great Yarmouth on the east coast. Dilham is also close to the destination pub/restaurants of The Gunton Arms and the Suffield Arms, both worth a visit for their food culture, art and atmosphere. The tiny North Walsham and Dilham canal also runs close by with canoe, kayak and paddle board hire in Dilham or at either Wayford Bridge, 3 miles away or at Wroxham.  With over 125 miles of waterways and nature trails to discover on The Broads either via boat or on foot, there is plenty to occupy the mind and stimulate the senses.  East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens for budding horticulturalists is a must see and the Bure Valley Railway is another treat with its small-gauge steam railway that runs from Wroxham to the market town of Aylsham.  Aylsham also features a farmers’ market twice a week.  The east coast beaches are beautiful, not overly populated, even in the summer, sandy and easily accessible.  A must see is the seal colony at Horsey Gap, which is under the care of the National Trust; visit in the winter and see the new seal pups too.  Also visit Winterton-On-Sea beach and take in its natural beauty or walk along the hillocks and dunes behind.
