Erpingham is a charming, rural village tucked away in north Norfolk, just a few miles from the coast and its sandy beaches with a local pub in the village, the Spread Eagle. A good farmers market can be found at nearby Aylsham twice a week and this lovely Georgian town also hosts two good supermarkets, a bakery and a butcher.  Aylsham is also the starting point of the Bure Valley Railway, which is a small gauge steam railway that runs into the heart of The Broads National Park at Wroxham, where you can explore over 125 miles of waterways via guided tours, by hiring a boat or walking the nature trails.  The National Trust has two historic houses in the area, Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park is a joy to walk in, no more so than in early May when the rhododendrons and azaleas are at their best.  The coast has some lovely, sandy beaches to explore. Go north to Cromer with its iconic Pier that has year-round shows, or travel east to Mundesley, which is notable for the smallest RNLI museum in the country.  A day out in Norwich is easily done, visit the Cathedrals - there are two, taste Norfolk’s foodie culture at some great restaurants, visit the Castle and its dungeons, or take a stroll alongside the River Wensum, which runs through the city centre.

Reviews

This is a lovely cottage in a peaceful and beautiful location. We loved it.

Mrs T,

We enjoyed our stay at the Cart Lodge which had everything we needed for our week’s stay. It is in a very good location within easy reach of the coast and has lots of different things to do in the area. We had a delicious home-cooked meal at The Alby Horseshoes pub just round the corner and would thoroughly recommend a visit! Thank you John for our welcome gifts and for the fresh raspberries which were very much appreciated. All-in-all we had a wonderful week’s holiday (despite the British weather!!).

Mrs G,

Well thought out accommodation and perfect for 4 in a lovely, peaceful spot but sadly compromised by a number of very basic and easily fixable maintenance issues (which we did mention to the owner when we bumped into him, quite by chance, on the last morning of our stay). The complete lack of any kind of welcome pack was very disappointing after a long journey.

Previous Customer,

Comfortable cottage in excellent location for exploring north Norfolk. Picture on website is from the back garden. Name sign by front door a bit faded so we didn't see it when we arrived. Trust google maps that you are there! Visiting in June we loved the amount of local produce available at the roadside including asparagus and eggs next door.

Miss L,

The cottage is very cosy and in a beautiful location with a nice garden.

Miss L,

Spacious and comfortable cottage in a good location.

Mrs P,

Lovely cottage, good location, quiet surroundings and very peaceful

Mrs R,

We found the property very warm and cosy even in November. It is excellently equipped with everything you can need . Everything was to the highest level. We would certainly come again.
