Reviews

Cottage well looked after, bed and bedding lovely, shower had plenty hot water and the sofas were comfy especially after a long day out. Found Charlie to be most attentive and kind man. Will definitely go back again .

Mrs E,

Really enjoyed our stay here. Cottage had everything we needed. The welcome pack was wonderful. Charlie ‘ our host’ was cheerful, helpful and discreet.

Mrs B,

Great welcome pack and very well equipped kitchen. Our host, Charles, was extremely helpful and friendly. The bungalow was ideal for ourselves and our dog. Belford proved to be ideally situated for travel across the region. We had a lovely time!

Mrs B,

Charlie is a great host from arrival he made us feel welcome. The bungalow is exceptionally well equipped and spotless. Lots of storage space for unpacking. The welcome pack is very generous and Charlie contacted us prior to arrival to see if we were meat eaters. The garden is undergoing work but is large and will be lovely when completed. We were lucky with the weather during our stay so we’re out exploring most days. Belford is a small village with numerous places to get food/drink. We explored Bamburgh and Seahouses we also went over to Scotland during our stay. This is a perfect base from which to go further afield. We really enjoyed our stay and as it’s dog friendly so did our little dog.

Miss W,

A lovely bungalow that is well equipped and comfortable. It's surroundings don't do the bungalow justice as inside it's very welcoming, especially the welcome pack of food.

Mr M,

The cottage was very well equipped and clean. The host was very nice and kindly provided us with all the basics for breakfasts and snacks.

Mrs H,

Warm and comfortable, well equipped and perfect placed for exploring the Northumberland coast and castles.

Mrs O L,

A very warm welcome on arrival by Charlie. Excellent welcome pack. A true home from home. Ideally placed for exploring Northumberland

Mrs P,

We were unable to stay the full week as our dog took ill but the property was clean fantastically appointed and Charlie was a fantastic host. The welcome pack he provided fantastic as well. Cottage and Gardens lovely Central for all tourist attractions would recommend it

Mr M,

A lovely bungalow just needs a few tweaks . The welcome pack was amazing and very much appreciated. Lots of cereal and chocolate biscuits to choose from as well as tea and coffee. A comfortable base for a week in Northumberland.

Mrs M,

Lovely cottage, unbelievable welcome pack, very welcoming owner and a great cottage

Mr J,

Very nice cottage lovely interior and good facilities Charlie the owner was friendly and informative about the area and gave a generous welcome pack not many holiday cottages do that ,we stopped at one place and we received nothing .

Mrs D,

Well tucked away in a quiet location. A lovely touch with the breakfast goodies, bread, milk, teas, coffees and selection of chocolate biscuits. The property was spacious with everything you could want for a lovely comfortable stay. A lovely garden too to enjoy sitting out if the weather allows. Charlie the owner was there to greet us and gave us a quick tour of the property with things we may need to know then left us to enjoy our weeks holiday.

Mrs R,

We had a good time and enjoyed the cottage

Mrs H,

Comfortable, well equipped, in a quiet location, conveniently situated for days out, shop and pubs within walking distance, bus services, walks from the doorstep. We would definitely return.

Mrs H,

Lovely accommodation inside and out. Charlie gave us a warm welcome and was knowledgeable about the local area. The welcome pack was extremely generous and a great bonus. Our first visit to Northumberland did not disappoint and this is the ideal location for exploring. We’d definitely stay here again and would thoroughly recommend.

Mr B,

What a fabulous week we’ve had. Lovely little place, so comfortable and well equipped. Probably the most well equipped and homely cottage we’ve ever stayed in. It was nice to come ‘home’ to every day, and especially on the one day the rain was torrential! Very comfy bed! The welcome pack was much appreciated, and the extra touches of biscuits and cereal, even coffee pods, although owner has reignited the husband’s love affair with Tunnocks tea cakes. Friendly, kind and informative host. We enjoyed several walks on Bamburgh beach, and on Beadnell beach, and one day we walked from Boulmer to Alnmouth and back along the beach. We visited Berwick for the first time - what a surprise it was. A lovely town with a nice walk around the walls, some great independent shops and a very cute cafe tucked under the bridge. We’ve enjoyed watching the birds in the garden and the pigeons nesting in the monkey puzzle tree. We were very sad to leave and hope we will return…thank you. P.S. we couldn’t look at the picture by the dining table without seeing Mick Hucknell….

Mrs P,

Monkey Puzzle retreat was perfect for us, we enjoy quiet places with lots of interesting places near. The bungalow is immaculate, well equipped and comfortable with many windows it feels more like a well loved home than a holiday let with a magical natural garden. Charlie the owner is charming, he lives next door so always easy to contact for advise or any problem, although quiet its very close to a well stocked Supermarket Pharmacy Cafe pubs and a lovely Norman Church. We would certainly enjoy a return visit.

Mr F,

Comfortable and well appointed base for exploring all of the major local sights. Tucked away and quiet, but with good local amenities.

Mr B,

Couldn’t fault the cottage never have we had such a well equipped cottage it was warm and cosy which was great as the weather was dreadful. Charles was a great host and I would recommend this cottage.

Mrs C,

It is great cottage placed idealy equipment brilliant ly

Mrs W,

Due to the recent storms the drive way and garden needs some TLC , was very muddy being mid March , however it didn’t spoil the weekend

Ms B,

Ideal location for tourism. The interior was nice apart from an uncomfortable sofa. The exterior left a lot to be desired. The first impression was poor

Mr L,

A well equipped bungalow within easy walking distance of local amenities. Location is excellent for the coast or country. Highly recommend

Mrs H,

Corner plot, lovely bungalow and would stay again. Great location for visiting Northumberland. Bungalow is a good size, but cosy. Bed very comfortable. Charlie is lovely and welcoming. Generous welcome pack. Good value for money and would recommend.

Mrs B,

A very comfortable cottage with a lovely garden. It was very clean and had excellent equipment. Handy position as it is just off the A1. There are shops and pubs in walking distance. Plenty places to walk the dog.

Mrs W,

We had a wonderful stay, excellent location and amenities, the owner is lovely, great quiet location, Will definitely return.

Mr P,

The bungalow was beautiful had everything you needed the bed was so comfortable and it was so warm we had to turn the heating down not a bad problem ha ha Charlie the owner was very helpful and welcoming the breakfast was a great idea and delicious. This place is perfect except for where it is it’s just a bit out of the way.

Mrs R,

Great property, very well equipped brilliant location really friendly people

Miss S,

A warm welcome from the owner. The bungalow is beautifully furnished and the standard of cleanliness is excellent. The welcome pack is very generous. The location is great a short walk into Belford you will find three pubs, a supermarket and paper shop. The beautiful Northumberland coast is only a few miles away. Highly recommend.

Mrs H,

The monkey puzzle cottage was ok, to be fair it was lovely and clean, bed linen n towels were lovely, but could have done with a lighter duvet as we were boiling in bed at night! The cottage was well appointed and in great area for all the tourist attractions. Outside the cottage the gardens were very untidy? Impossible to sit in the garden with the dog as garden not secure and really needed tidying up! The only other complaint was the combi boiler, it was situated on the same wall as the bed head and at 6 am when the boiler awoke it was a terrible noise that reverberated into you in bed n gave me migraines! Hence, you must turn off the boiler before you go to bed at night. The tv was also not where you would sit on the settee but to the side of the settee????? Plus electric fire wasn’t working! But really, the house was well appointed, just needed fine tuning.
