Description

The idyllic cottage is set amongst the rolling hills of the Northumberland countryside and offers the best of both worlds, with the rugged coastline also within easy reach. The property sleeps four guests and makes the perfect couples’ retreat or base for a small family. Just 3 miles from the cottage is the family favourite of Embleton Bay. This wide, sheltered bay has a vast expanse of golden sand and is also popular with water sports enthusiasts. The beach stretches for approximately 3 miles so, even in the height of summer, it’s easy to escape the crowds and find your own little quiet spot to unwind. At the far end of the beach, you’ll find the evocative ruins of the 14th-century Dunstanburgh Castle. Several long-distance walking routes pass through the beach, including the Northumberland Coast Path and St Oswald’s Way, taking you along some of the most dramatic stretches of the Heritage Coast. If you follow the coast path, you’ll soon reach the unspoilt fishing village of Craster (2 miles), where you can sample the famous smoked kippers and explore the fantastic selection of arts and crafts boutiques.

The traditional stone cottage is arranged across one level and has been decorated in a contemporary style, with a fabulous collection of unique accessories and statement furniture. Enter the property into the vestibule, where there is space to store all your outdoor gear. At the heart of the home is an open-plan kitchen/diner, leading into a large lounge. The kitchen/diner has an impressive, vaulted ceiling, and is the perfect place for enjoying memorable mealtimes together, in the glow of the wood burner. After dinner, drift into the light-filled lounge, which has a huge sky light (perfect for star gazing on a clear night) and French doors opening out onto the garden. Recline on the vibrant sofa to watch the Smart TV or curl up with a book in one of the armchairs. The property has two bedrooms – a king-size and a double – and both have individual style, combining period features with quirky furniture and accessories. Completing the property is a stylish shower room and a bathroom with a gorgeous free-standing bath.

The cottage has a large, enclosed garden, that’s predominantly laid to lawn. A sunny patio houses outdoor furniture, providing a relaxing spot to dine outside in summer months. The garden enjoys spectacular countryside views and is a real haven for wildlife.

Reviews

Lovely cottage in a quiet location, Really enjoyed my stay here, especially looking at the stars through the huge rooflight - this was the highlight of my stay! Excellent and unique furnishings ! Thankyou for the welcome packs. Would definitely like to stay here again.

Mrs H,

We had a fantastic holiday the property is emaculate and very homely. It is perfect location wise in Northumberland giving you a central base to Alnwick, Seahouses and Bamburgh. The kitchen is well stocked with all utensils and pots etc provided with the wood burning stove which came with some starter logs and firefighters which provided a great back drop to evening meals. The cottage came with Wifi, Smart TV, washer/dryer, Ironing equipment, and hair dryers in each room with a well equipped cleaning cupboard. We were provided with a bathroom and kitchen amenity pack that was a great touch when arriving without the essentials. Beyond the garden overlooks farmers fields with plenty of cattle which we loved and we did not find too noisy during the day/night. Would highly recommend and we would most definitely rebook.

Mr B,

The cottage was as described, very clean and spacious with some quirky furniture. A good welcome pack and a folder with all the information you need. The odd friendly cow looking over the wall and really quiet at night and you can do a bit of star gazing through the glass roof. All in all a very pleasant stay and would certainly stay again.

Mr H,

Not a bad place to stay if you do not mind the constant barking from the neighbours dogs or the drilling from the builders in the attached property. Disappointed that we were not advised about the building works.

Mr T,

A lovely cottage in a peaceful rural area. No shops nearby. Furnishings of a high standard and rather quirky in the bedrooms. Sewing machines and post boxes as bedside tables. There are hairdryers in both bedrooms even though it’s not mentioned in the facilities. Bedroom 1 had a kingsize bed with memory foam mattress and second bedroom has a normal double bed. High quality appliances in the kitchen and huge tv in the lounge. Unfortunately, no table or chairs for meals in the garden.

Mrs C,
