Description

An elegant 19th-century church conversion with west-facing gardens, located in the heart of Embelton and with easy access to the many wonderful coastal trails and quaint towns in Northumbria. This hideaway is ideal for older families and groups of friends seeking a restorative beachside retreat. Scope out the best eateries on your doorstep, such as the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel located right across the road, then saunter along the picturesque, dune-backed shores of Embleton Bay, 500 metres. Venture North to Bamburgh, 7.5 miles, and spot the impressive castle ruins or trial the local delicacy of smoked kippers. Try your luck at the Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club which was voted in the top 200 of courses in the UK, or sample locally sourced meats and goods at The Village Farm Shop.

This is a beautifully restored 1833 church boasting light-flooded rooms, original craftsmanship features, and contemporary touches. The rear entrance opens onto a hallway with a convenient cloakroom, leading through to the spacious kitchen and a utility room. Relax in the grand lounge area with plush leather sofas, arched windows, and a soaring wood burner stove - the inviting heart of the home. There is an additional side entrance with ample storage, leading to the garden. Retreat upstairs to the sleeping areas, consisting of an airy double room with an en-suite shower room, and a large mezzanine-style double room with exposed beams and a seating area. The main bathroom is also located on the first floor.

Reviews

The location in Embleton is excellent. Easy to get to the beach and exploring the area. Three pubs nearby so a choice of places to eat/drink. Property is unusual and charming. Well equipped and comfortable. Large windows bring light into the rooms. The heating is simple to manage although did find it had a mind of it's own sometimes. Bedding and towels are quality. Street parking not a problem. Smart tv wasn't very smart! No streaming. Brilliant weather made it a great week.

Mr S,

Lovely property and very well-equipped. Spacious and comfortable. Good area for beach walking.

Ms M,

We made a very good choice of accommodation - Kirkside is well placed in the village - several good places to eat, the village shop/ PO is so close, street parking posed no problem - we were usually able to park right outside the door - the beach is a 20 minute walk away. And, as we were lucky to have superb weather, we enjoyed a drink sitting in the garden after a day out.

Mrs M,

Beautiful property in a stunning location. Well equipped and very comfortable.

Mrs M,

Fantastic location. All amenities at hand. A farm shop 30 yards away open daily. Lovely private garden , west facing. Bus service at the end of the road if needed. Three local places to eat as well as the golf club all within 5 minute walk.

Mrs V,

A beautiful house, very warm, clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Also a lovely garden where we sat for our first evening meal in hot sunshine. The beds and bedrooms also very spacious and comfortable. The wood burning stove was very welcome on our one day of torrential rain. A great location for accessing other areas of Northumberland, both south and north, with excellent walks. Excellent food in the pub round the corner at Grey’s Inn. There were generous touches left for our stay, ie milk, chocolate, and logs. We had a very enjoyable few days in this lovely house and will definitely be back.

Mrs B,

The dramatic ruins provide a picturesque backdrop to the magnificent beach, great for a those who love capturing holiday snaps, or who simply enjoy taking in a view. After a long day of exploring the castle, coastal path or beach, head to one of Embleton’s many delectable pubs and restaurants for a well-deserved meal.
