Description
Originally a stone barn used for stabling work horses, this pretty cottage has recently been refurbished and extended to offer luxurious accommodation for a large group across two floors. Wander a mile from the front door into the centre of the picturesque fishing village of Seahouses, where you’ll find a range of shops, bakers, butchers, pubs, and restaurants to enjoy. Or you can head to the harbour to sit and watch bustling harbour life or book a boat trip to the Farne Islands, home to thousands of seabirds and grey seals, where you must pay a visit to St Cuthbert’s Chapel and visitor centre on Inner Farne. Drive or walk the 3 miles to Bamburgh where the imposing castle towers over the beach. Historians and Harry Potter fans alike will want to visit Alnwick Castle, 14 miles away, to uncover its fascinating past as a military outpost and more recently as a film location. Walkers too will love this beautiful area with plenty of stunning country and coastal walks, including the lovely 3-mile shoreline trail to Beadnell village, which sits at the end of the glorious golden sands of Beadnell Bay.
Inside this property you’ll find that the spacious living room is perfect for all times of year, with a wood burner to warm up chilly evenings as well as large patio doors that can be flung wide on warmer days, giving access to the garden. It provides a relaxing retreat with comfortable sofas, stunning original features, and a TV to snuggle up in front of. The converted barn has a large well-equipped kitchen with a dining table and chairs, a range oven and everything even the keenest chef might need. There’s also a handy utility/boot room/cloakroom on the ground floor, with further storage space, a washing machine and a WC. Upstairs the cottage has three great bedrooms all with original features, attractive décor and gorgeous views: a king-size room with an en-suite shower room, a twin and a double. There is also a modern family bathroom where the bath sits under the window with views out to sea, and a large walk-in shower.
The garden is on the seaward side of the house surrounded by fabulous views of the countryside towards the sea. It’s enclosed, with a large lawn and a patio with dining furniture where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
