Description

The Old Stable is a fantastic family friendly holiday cottage, located in the charming small village of Milfield, on the outskirts of Wooler, which makes an excellent base to discover all that Northumberland has to offer. It’s perfect for those wishing to explore the many historic and iconic local sites nearby. There are a number of walks straight from the front door, including circular walks to Fords Moss Nature Reserve, Lanton and Yeavering Bell, with its fantastic views on the northern edge of the Cheviots.

Milfield is only 5 miles from the attractive town of Wooler and is a wonderful location for walkers, mountain bikers, or families looking to explore, with the nearby Cheviots providing numerous footpaths and bridleways to explore and enjoy. Golf, fishing, horse riding and even gliding are all available within a five-mile radius. The splendid beaches of the Heritage Coast are less than 15 miles away, whilst the Scottish Border is 9 miles north at Coldstream. 

The village also provides locations for a cool drink and a tasty meal at the welcoming Red Lion pub or enjoy a selection of food choices all day long, straight over the road at Café Maelmin, all within walking distance. 

Accommodation: a two-bedroom cottage, all on the ground floor, sleeping up to 4.

Ground Floor

Entrance: The entrance brings you into a quaint hallway leading to the living room.

Open plan living and kitchen area: An inviting open plan living and kitchen area for the family to enjoy and interact, which has carpeted flooring in the living space and wooden beam feature at ceiling level. The lounge area has a Smart TV, side tables and units and comfy sofa seating for all guests. A wood burning stove is a centerpiece of the room, which includes games and books for guests to enjoy alongside a dining table to enjoy a hearty meal together on an evening. The attached kitchen space houses all the usual appliances, including a fridge, freezer, electric oven, electric hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

Bathroom: The family bathroom provides an inviting bath with separate shower cubicle along with WC and wash hand basin.  

Bedroom 1: This room is bright and airy with side access to the outdoor seating area giving stunning views of the country and open fields. This bedroom has a king size bed, side tables and plenty of storage for clothing items.

Bedroom 2: The second bedroom offers 2 single beds, with storage drawers and hanging racks for clothing items, along with side table.

Outside space: Enclosed private courtyard space to side and rear with stunning country views; outdoor furniture provided to enjoy those warm summer nights.

Heating: Electric heating and wood burning stove.

Parking: 2 spaces at property.

Pets: Sorry, no pets.

Milfield

Milfield is only 5 miles from the attractive little town of Wooler, Gateway to the Cheviots. This is a wonderful location for walkers/mountain bikers, the nearby Cheviots providing numerous footpaths and bridleways, whilst golf, fishing, horse riding and even gliding are all available within a five mile radius. There is a narrow gauge railway and working corn mill at nearby Heatherslaw, whilst at Chillingham, (10 miles) can be found the only herd of wild cattle in Europe. The splendid beaches of the Heritage Coast are less than 15 miles away. The Scottish Border is 9 miles north at Coldstream. Alnwick with its magnificent castle and gardens is the perfect day out!
