Cottages in Great Longstone

The area of Longstone is made up of two villages, Great Longstone and Little Longstone, just over three miles north of Bakewell in the eastern Peak District. From 18th century stone cottages, to cosy terraces, our holiday homes in Great Longstone put you in a great spot from which to explore this pretty, rural part of Derbyshire.  

Bakewell and its many attractions, including the Chatsworth Estate and the village of Edensor with its pubs and fine dining restaurants are all within walkable reach of our Great Longstone cottages. En route, you pass by Hassop Station Cafe and Monsal Trail Cycle Hire, where you can pick up a bike for the Monsal Trail, an 8.5 mile traffic-free route between Blackwell Mill and Bakewell. The route is also wheelchair and pushchair accessible and passes through some real beauty spots, including Longstone. If cycling and walking aren’t your things, then we still recommend visiting Hassop Station Cafe for one of their delicious breakfasts or an afternoon cuppa.  

In Great Longstone you’ll find two fabulous local pubs. The White Lion has a full flowing menu, Sunday Lunch options, a kid and dog-friendly beer garden and takeaway options, while The Crispin Inn is also dog-friendly and has a large garden, perfect for a pint in the sun. As a small, traditional Derbyshire village, Great Longstone also participates in the annual Well Dressings, when water points are decorated with petals, in June each year, so the village is a particularly lovely place to visit in late Spring.  

Perfect for people looking for a relaxing, rural retreat, Longstone is where you can slow life down for a bit and unwind in nature. Within close proximity of other Derbyshire towns such as Wirksworth, Longstone really is a great holiday destination.
