Cottages in Chinley

Tucked away in the Western Peak District, just north of Buxton, lies the picturesque Derbyshire village of Chinley. Our cottages in Chinley are where tradition and luxury meet. Chinley is named after its train station, which opened in 1867, making this industrial Derbyshire town accessible to the rest of the UK. Today, services still run to Manchester, Sheffield and Derby, as well as other local Derbyshire towns and villages. This means that a holiday in Chinley is a very viable option for guests joining us via public transport and makes days out to nearby towns, villages and cities easy – not to mention that the routes themselves are extremely scenic!  

Chinley is also a perfect spot for a walking holiday, being the heart of the Peak District National Park. Brown Knoll is the nearest peak and it dominates the eastern skyline of the village, standing at an impressive 569m high. Eccles Pike is immediately south of the village and measures in at 370m. At the top of Eccles Pike is a Topograph, installed to mark the millennium in 2000 as a vantage point from which to view the breath-taking scenery around the summit. Cracken Edge and Combs Moss are other peaks nearby Chinley and neighbouring Chapel-le-Frith. So if you’re looking for a climbing challenge, basing yourself in Chinley and trying out some of these peaks will be right up your street!
