Larger cottages in the Peak District and Derbyshire

Our larger Derbyshire cottages are high competitors for our most original properties. Farmhouses, Georgian townhouses, barn conversions and modern builds are dotted across the Southern, Eastern and Western Peak District, sleeping between eight and 16 guests. This gives you the perfect opportunity to enjoy a big get together with family and friends in a beautiful part of England. Many of our large cottages in the area are also dog-friendly, with some even allowing up to two furry friends to stay, which is great news for those who can’t bear to leave their canine companion at home. For those more interested in luxury touches, many of our larger cottages in Derbyshire fall within our luxury homes category, coming with special features ranging from open fires and wood-burners, to hot tubs, pools and even saunas.

Derbyshire and the Peak District is a very family-friendly region, with plenty of indoor and outdoor activities on offer to keep young and old entertained. With an entire National Park on your doorstep, exploring the Peak District on foot is almost always the best way to see it, but can seem daunting to groups with differing levels of walking ability. That’s where Miles Without Stiles comes in, a series of accessible walking routes across Derbyshire and the Peak District with gentle terrain, wheelchair and pushchair access, and little to no steep slopes. Popular routes include Ladybower Reservoir, Dove Stones, Derwent Dam and the Monsal Trail. The Chatsworth Estate near Bakewell is also a fantastic option for a family day out, with plenty of walking routes through its momentous grounds to keep you occupied, as well as the stately home itself and its gardens, tearooms, gift shop and more.

Another great group day out is a trip to Cromford Mills near Matlock. The mills were built by Sir Richard Arkwright in 1771 and were the world’s first water powered cotton spinning mill, marking the beginning of industrialisation in Britain. Nowadays, the mills are home to historic exhibitions, tours, cafes and a range of independent, local shops. If shopping is a particular pastime of yours, then perhaps booking one of our properties near Buxton is a good idea. Buxton is a historic a spa town, made famous by its natural hot baths and today, its historic centre around the baths is a hub of independent shops and eateries that are perfect for an afternoon of retail therapy.

With so many things to see and do, Derbyshire and the Peak District is clearly a fabulous holiday destination, so all that’s left to do is choose your favourite cottage and start getting prepared for your group getaway!
