Description
Enjoy an unforgettable getaway at this charming coastal cottage set on a lighthouse complex. Boasting exceptional views across the Irish Sea, and towards the Isle of Man, the Cumbrian Hills and the Mountains of Mourne, this is an idyllic and unique property. Sitting in the Rhins of Galloway – a breathtaking area that boasts some 50 miles of rugged coastline – this is a truly remarkable region, perfect for groups of friends or families who want to escape the everyday grind. Set off to Logan Botanic Garden (9.5 miles) to stroll through the walled garden, browse the exotic plants and enjoy a lazy lunch in the bistro. History buffs will love visiting the Kirkmadrine Stones, which are arguably the oldest and most important Christian memorial stones in Scotland. Displayed at Kirkmadrine Chapel (6.5 miles), these eight ancient stones date from the 5th to the 12th centuries. For impressive sunsets, head to Port Logan Bay (2 miles), which has a beautiful sandy beach stretching around to Port Logan Fish Pond which dates back to 1800 and was originally a sea-fish larder for the local laird.
Set on a complex of properties surrounding a working lighthouse, this cottage is charming, spacious, fully equipped and tastefully decorated. Step inside and you’ll find a welcoming hallway with a bright, coastal-themed double bedroom to your right and a handy country-style twin bedroom to your left. Continue down the hall and you’ll discover a compact living room bathed in a soothing palette of neutral tones and boasting gorgeous sea views. It’s the perfect place for a cosy night around the electric log effect burner with your loved ones. Just across the hallway, there’s a coastal-themed dining room for those sociable dinner parties and accessed through the dining room, there’s a smart galley-style kitchen with wonderful sea views. At the end of the hallway, a stylish family bathroom completes the layout.
Outside there’s a shared, lawned garden within the lighthouse walls with picnic benches and a helicopter pad. Guests are also welcome to make use of the summer house. From the cottage’s rear terrace there are amazing views over the cliffs and across the Irish Sea – be sure to keep a lookout for dolphins and porpoises.
