Visiting Snape

Aside from being a pretty place to stay, there’s a lot going on in Snape, despite its status as a small Suffolk village. The famous Aldeburgh festival, which sees a host of live music, dance and art exhibitions, happens every year in June and many of the events are held in the village of Snape. There’s also Snape Maltings, the village’s collection of independent shops and eateries, housed in a collection of old Victorian buildings on the banks of the River Alde which provide hours of entertainment. So with a selection of beautiful holiday cottages on offer and a wealth of things to do, what’s not to love about Snape?

Snape also offers an ideal base for exploring the Suffolk Coast. The Victorian seaside town of Southwold delivers colourful beach huts, fine dining, great pubs and is also home to the Adnams brewery and distillery. Thorpeness, Orford and Framlingham are all close by, offering a medley of activities from historical charm and intrigue to wide open beaches and award-winning fish and chips! And for a dose of the really wild, then exploring RSPB Minsmere is very accessible and offers acres of outdoor adventure.

If you enjoy a walk then why not try the highly recommended picturesque trail along the Alde River and Sailor’s Path to the seaside town of Aldeburgh? The walk up to Iken Cliffs is another local favourite and the Cliffs provide a popular picnic spot with views across Suffolk’s iconic marshes.
