Description

Nestled in the heart of the Dark Skies area of the Cambrian Mountains, just off the picturesque Abergwesyn mountain road lies this lovingly renovated family friendly cottage. This modern, well-equipped holiday home is located on a small holding attached to the main house and offers a quiet retreat with views of the surrounding mountains and Brenig River which flows right past it. Abundant wildlife can be seen on this river - Red Kites, Heron, Kingfisher, otters to name just a few. Drws Nesa will give you a lovely, peaceful break and a chance to really unwind as all you'll hear will be the sound of the birds and the river. The little hideway or 'cwtch' at the top of the stairs will be a great surprise for the children, a place where they can chill out together with some books or play games and give the adults a break! The outside is sure to impress you - log fired pizza oven, fire pit and a hot tub where you can relax and take in the wonderful tranquil views of the countryside. With flexible sleeping options with both rooms having a zip and link bed and a spacious living/dining area it's a great place to bring your family on holiday.

Just half a mile away is the historic market town of Tregaron. Amenities include food shops, pubs/restaurants, cafes, bakery, two family run butchers, takeways, Post Office, petrol station, The Welsh Gold Centre and gift shops. Tregaron was an important banking location during the late 18th century for drovers who walked their animals over the Cambrian Mountains to the markets in Hereford and then onto London. If you'd like to find out a little bit about the history and culture of this town, be sure to visit the Red Kite Centre and Museum. You can even feed the Red Kites at Cors Caron Nature Reserve, just outside Tregaron, during the winter months which will be an interesting activity to do with the children. Enjoy the great outdoors by walking or cycling through the Cambrian Mountains or if you're a keen cyclist looking for a challenge, you can try the exciting and famous Devil's Staircase Pass on the Abergwesyn Road which is the road that the drovers used to take. Some other interesting places to visit are Strata Florida Abbey and Musuem, Capel Soar, the most remote chapel in Wales or one that will be a hit with the children is Fort Alpaca's where you can spend time with alpaca's or go for a walk to see the stunning scenery.

Reviews

A comfortable, warm & cosy cottage with everything you need for a relaxed ‘away from it all’ break. Close to a little village if you fancy a pub meal but also, in the middle of lovely countryside. Peaceful, tranquil & very rural. Just lovely.

Ms B,

A great cottage with superb views, well looked after with all you’ll need on the doorstep for a relaxing getaway.

Mr M,

This cottage is absolutely wonderful. The views from the windows and outside are stunning, and make you feel so peaceful. The hot tub is an absolute bonus where you can enjoy the views from even more. The beds are extremely comfortable and large. The living space is cosy and well decorated with massive windows to see the paddock and views. It is in a very rural location so you must be prepared to drive 30+ mins to reach things like a supermarket and some of the more touristy attractions. There is a spar shop 2 mins down the road for any essentials. But the rurality is definitely a plus if you want to escape the business of normal life and explore Wales.

Miss K,

The cottage was perfect. In a beautiful location with lots to explore in the surrounding area. It was very clean and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The enclosed patio was perfect for our 3 year old to play in and the quiet parking area was ideal for riding his balance bike. Perfect hosts, friendly and helpful without being intrusive.

Mr C,

Delightful cottage in the most beautiful setting. Close to the village of Tregaron, with a pub and small local shops. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with everything you need and the bonus of a hot tub. Stunning views around the property and lots to see and do in the area. A walkers and cyclists paradise!

Mrs P,

What a great find! Perfectly clean, beautifully decorated, very comfortable and with a luxurious feel. Easy reach to beautiful countryside and the coast. If you’re visiting this area don’t hesitate!

Mrs C,

The cottage was very nice and cosy loved our stay

Ms M,

Set in a lovely area next to a brook, this cottage has all you need. We really enjoyed our week's stay.

Mr P,

Lovely cottage, well equipped, clean and in a lovely location. Having the hot tub to come back to after a day out was delightful!

Mrs H,

Lovely cottage, quiet and relaxing. Beautiful scenery and plenty of red kites and buzzards to keep you entertained. Cottage was comfortable and relaxing. Weather wasn't on our side but we got out everyday and glad we got to use the hot tub. Hosts were very discreet but on hand if you need them. We will definitely book again.

Mr John D,

Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Lots of places to explore.

Miss Natasha S,

What a fantastic place. We will definitely return!

Mrs Joanne S,

Lovely and cosy cottage, ideally located to explore Mid Wales. Devil's Bridge waterfall is a must but be careful as it can be very challenging when wet. Seen the red kites being fed at Egrin Farm. Explored Elan Valley's dams and reservoirs. Also easy reach to the Ceredigion coast from Aberporth to Ynys Las - over two days. We will definitely return to explore even more of this very beautiful special place in Wales. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack and cost cottage.

Miss Adriana D,

It was a lovely Christmas. We've had a lovely stay. The hot tub was fun. The cottage was very cosy and our hosts were very helpful.
