Description

Nestling at the top of Blaenau Ffestiniog, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Snowdonia National Park, this detached and spacious holiday home boasts a hot tub, a games room and magnificent gardens with stunning mountain and valley views. Walk from the door to Blaenau Ffestiniog’s eateries and shops, and explore the many footpaths and cycle routes over the hills and mountains with lakes, reservoirs and historic sites to visit. Discover the breathtaking Zip World Caverns (2.5 miles), or the Italianate village of Portmeirion (10.5 miles) with its architectural heritage, tidal estuary, and sub-tropical gardens. Take a drive to Porthmadog (12 miles) renowned for its harbour and Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. Explore Criccieth and Harlech Castles, and the beautiful, bustling villages of Betws y Coed and Beddgelert, all of which are within 12 miles. Families, and the dog, can relax and unwind in this idyllic spot and enjoy activities nearby.

Park the car and walk down to this pretty house and take a moment to appreciate the surrounding greenery and peaceful views. The charm continues inside where period features like exposed beams and ornamental fireplaces combine with thoughtful, homely touches. Budding chefs will enjoy the creatively designed kitchen which has all the equipment you need to rustle up a meal, maybe with the local produce purchased on your travels. This vibrant space is soaked in natural light thanks to the skylights above. Enjoy the chef’s hard work through in the separate dining room where a spacious table sits beneath wooden ceiling beams and near a crackling wood burner. After dinner continue through to the lounge where rural charm makes it easy to unwind. Sit back in the comfy seating, switch on the Smart TV and bask in the glow of the wood burner that sits in a large, characterful fireplace that takes centre stage in this relaxing room. When it’s time for bed, choose from three sumptuous bedrooms, the first of which is here on the ground floor – a welcoming double with its own en-suite shower room with WC. With a farmhouse-style door leading to the garden and overhead skylights that reveal the surrounding greenery, this is a delightful space to awake each morning. Follow the stairs up from the lounge to find the two remaining bedrooms, both of which also offer double beds and are served by the well-appointed bathroom which completes the interior.

The sun-soaked and scenic outdoor space is no doubt one of the highlights of this fantastic property, with plenty of green spaces split across various levels to the front and rear of the cottage. To the front, perch on the stone wall with your morning brew and take in the mountain views. At the rear, let little ones and dogs play in the enclosed, lawned garden. Plan al fresco afternoon and evening meals using the BBQ and outdoor furniture that await, and afterwards enjoy an evening tipple in the heated sunroom. A spacious, private hot tub sits beneath of skylight gazebo for evenings of bubbles and stargazing, while a well-equipped games room boasts a pool table, dartboard and gym equipment for competitive afternoons together. You’ll also find space to store mountain bikes or any other holiday equipment.

Reviews

Absolutely gorgeous cottage with stunning views and everything you could want. The owner was very attentive and kept in regular contact. He was friendly and informative and on hand for any queries or advice. The hot tub was lovely, the games room perfect for entertaining the kids, and the beds incredibly comfortable. We were very lucky with the weather and got to enjoy a lovely afternoon in the garden playing with the outdoor games from the shed and soaking up the sun and view. Thank you for a fantastic weekend Roger. We would love to return soon :)

Mrs M,

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the cottage- the cottage is well-stocked and has everything you need for a fab stay. The views of the mountains from the hot tub were amazing and we all enjoyed playing darts and pool most nights. From there, we had lovely days out at Abersoch, Barmouth, Harlech castle, Porthmadog to see the steam trains, Betws y Coed and Beddgelert. Blaenau Ffestiniog was a short walk away from the house, and has a large coop for groceries. Roger was very helpful and informative.

Mrs B,

Lovely cosy cottage in a peaceful location with stunning views. Ideal for exploring the North Wales coast and mountains. The cottage was well equipped and the hot tub and games room made it ideal for teenagers. Would recommend

Mrs D,

Lovely cottage with beautiful views, the owner made us feel very welcome and provided lovely little touches. Great location for exploring North Wales from, we will be back!

Mr C,

We fell in love with The Mountains house the second I saw the photos online but was reluctant to book as no reviews. We decided to take the risk and so pleased we did as just returned from the most incredible week away. The cottage views are spectacular, I spent so many hours sat in the cosy sun room watching the mountains, was heaven. The cottage is warm and beautifully decorated with a huge fireplace in the lounge which we used every night. All the beds were comfortable and we all slept so well. The en-suite shower and bath always had hot water and good pressure. The kitchen was very well equipped and I loved all the little extras like soaps, washing up liquids and sponges makes it a real home from home. The hot tub was used twice a day and always required temperature. We loved the fact it was very private and could be used in all weathers with roof and lights. Views once again stunning. Games room the teenagers loved and we spent many hours playing pool/ darts together as a family. The area around cottage is so peaceful and secluded but also very well placed as you can easily walk into village which has shops, cafes and great places to eat/ grap a takeaway. Parking for 2 cars in safe little lay-by less then 30 seconds walk from cottage. The owner is by far the best I’ve ever experienced. Call day before to provide helpful information and once again on arrival to check we were happy. We had a couple of questions during the week and owner was very responsive and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and he clearly cares about his guests. This holiday was meant to be a one off BUT we will definitely be returning as we all had such a great time. We would 100 percent recommend this to everyone.

Mrs B,

Wonderful cottage in excellent central location to explore Snowdonia. The views are incredible and the hot tub was a real treat. The owner was very helpful and informative pre-arrival and has clearly put a lot of thought into this beautiful cottage. Highly recommend!
