Description

For a slice of countryside living, stay at this delightful escape located on a peaceful private smallholding. Set amongst open countryside where you can take leisurely strolls first thing each morning. Just 1 mile down a wooded rural lane lies the pretty village of Kirkby Fleetham, home to a welcoming gastropub. There are miles of walking and biking trails right from the doorstep, including the renowned coast-to-coast walk. The stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales (18 miles) and North York Moors (14.5 miles) await for day hikes, while Northallerton (10.5 miles) offers a great mix of shops and tea rooms. Historic Richmond (also 10.5 miles) is also a must-see for its charming cobbled market square, Norman castle and the romantic ruins of Easby Abbey. To see the spectacular scenery by train, hop on the Wensleydale Railway from Scruton (5 miles) and prepare for a showstopping journey through classic Yorkshire countryside.

On arrival, pass through the electric gates and follow the long track leading to this beautifully getaway. The entrance hall is handy for leaving coats and walking boots before stepping into the spacious open-plan living area. Full of quirks and original character, the cottage features arched windows, wooden floors and impressive exposed beams. The bespoke kitchen has a breakfast bar for perching with drinks and snacks along with a dining table setting you up for sit-down meals. Cooking is a treat with the traditional Aga – ideal for preparing a feast with fresh produce from Richmond’s Saturday market. After a day out exploring, unwind on the comfy corner sofa, perhaps watching a film on the Smart TV or putting on some background music. When it's time to rest, choose between a cosy twin room and a generous super king-size bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom.

The garden, a lovely gravelled space equipped with patio furniture, is accessible from the kitchen. You can sizzle up a BBQ for al fresco dinners in this tranquil setting.
