Cottages in Shaldon

Shaldon is a village steeped in history and is today famed for the long-running Shaldon Regatta, as well as being a popular traditional bathing spot. In fact, so in demand is Shaldon as a holiday destination that during 2012 a local beach hut was put on the market for a whooping £245,000 – making it the most expensive beach hut in the UK! Our collection of Shaldon holiday cottages provide the ideal base for exploring this quaint and welcoming village without needing to spend a small fortune.

With an eclectic blend of traditional fishing cottages, local period houses and contemporary builds, Shaldon offers a truly distinctive collection of holiday homes. Many of our properties are pet-friendly and rest just a stone’s throw from the beach, meaning that you are never far from a relaxed afternoon on the coast or a brisk morning walk. Shaldon is also home to a fantastic range of luxury holiday cottages, offering all the conveniences of a modern holiday home, in addition to extra special features that set each unique property apart.

Holidays in Shaldon

The South Devon Coast offers visitors a wealth of secluded beaches and maritime villages. The village of Shaldon lies across the Teign estuary and just a short distance from the town of Teignmouth, providing plenty of scope to explore.

With its narrow winding streets, cosy pubs and tempting restaurants, Shaldon boasts everything you need to enjoy a relaxing holiday or weekend getaway. The village is also home to a collection of quirky independent shops, meaning that you can enjoy everything that you would expect to find in a modern village, while also discovering something entirely unique.

It should come as no surprise that the beach at Shaldon is an excellent spot for swimming, sunbathing, or exploring the various rock pools. The village’s waters are also highly regarded as perfect for activities such as swimming, sailing and rowing.

If you decide that you would like to venture slightly further afield, Ness Cove Beach is a wonderful shingle beach that can be accessed via the infamous “Smugglers Tunnel.” The surrounding cliffs make Ness Cove a remarkably secluded beach, perfect for getting away and relaxing with your own thoughts.

There is also a local ferry service running between Shaldon and Teignmouth, providing a charming link to the town, as well as to local walks that extend along the coast. The service typically operates every day of the year except for Christmas Day and New Years Day. There is a slight charge for both adult and child foot passengers, but dogs travel for free – so there’s no excuse to not take your faithful pet for an extra exciting walk! For further information on current sailing times and pricing, please visit the Teignmouth & Shaldon Ferry website here.
