Who deserves a break?

We’d like to reward those people who go beyond the call of duty – whether at home or in the workplace - with a UK cottage holiday break. So we are giving away three breaks in some of our finest properties to the most deserving.

Our search is over but a big thank you goes out to everyone for nominating and voting for such deserving unsung heroes!

Deserve a Break has sadly now drawn to a close but we thought we'd share this wonderful story with you right from when it all started, way back in January 2015.

Those who most deserve a break from the everyday stresses and strains of life - and never manage to get one - are so often those who are always looking out for others. We probably all know someone who gives their time, effort and experience without asking for or expecting anything in return. So we decided to do something about it! That's why we launched our “Who Deserves a Break?” campaign!

We set out to find twelve unsung heroes who were in need of a well-deserved holiday. We invited people from all over the country to nominate a friend, a neighbour, a colleague who is truly an unsung hero - someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty and never puts themselves first: a special someone who'd done something surprising and kind and generous for someone else without being asked and wanting nothing in return. All they needed to do was tell us why they believed their nominee deserved a much-needed break.

Nominations quickly poured in from all over the country! After receiving so many noble and heart-warming nominations, it was a real challenge to choose just four finalists for each campaign. Then the public got to voting and now the finalists with the most public votes are each set to enjoy a free 7-day break in the picturesque Yorkshire village of High Oxnop, the stunning Welsh countryside and a stone's throw from the Aldeburgh beach in Suffolk.

More than that though, the nine runners up will also be going on a free mini-break to a holiday cottage of their choosing somewhere in the UK too! Read more about each campaign's unsung hero and where they're heading for their cottage holiday!
