Let off some steam and burn some energy on your visit. There’s plenty of wide-open space and room to let loose – whether you’re bringing the dog, fancy some watersports or want to explore everything we have to offer by foot. Here are a few suggestions that will be suitable for those of all ages and abilities.  A walk of two beaches Whilst I love walking on Southwold Beach, it’s also close to another of my favourites – and one that couldn’t be more different. Just a mile or two down the road is Covehithe, a local hidden gem of a beach.

I’m always surprised that more people don’t talk about Suffolk as a top destination for lovers of wildlife and natural history. Mind you, that’s no bad thing because it just means more for you and me – the people who know what a truly special home this county is to some exceptional animals and plants.

You probably have your own memories of a holiday that was made by the people. Because even the most beautiful places to visit can be improved by a welcoming smile. Here are one or two locals who are making a big difference to the community spirit in Suffolk and would love to say hello when you next visit us!

A break by the seaside wouldn’t be complete without a parcel of fish and chips ripped into on the beach. We’re lucky to have some amazing, passionate producers in the area too, so whatever you’d like to try, I’m sure you’ll find it. 

South Devon thrives on its strong sense of community. This is a living, breathing land of fishing villages and market towns, medieval cities and new developments, all full of brilliant local people who love opening their doors to visitors to share our region. Let me introduce you to some of the warmest welcomes in the county.

Down here in South Devon, there is a new beach around every turn just waiting to be explored. From sun-kissed sandy bays, perfect for sandcastles and ice creams, to rocky smuggler’s coves hidden between dramatic cliffs, there really is something for everyone. Here are some of the beaches I hope my daughter has many happy memories of when she grows up.

Whenever I go somewhere new on holiday, one of the first things I do is start looking up all the local dog walks and dog-friendly places to explore. Once I’ve got that sorted, I can think about the activities us humans will enjoy – which just goes to show how important our four-legged friends are to us! To save you the trouble, here are my picks of the walks in South Devon you won’t want to miss.

While Lundy Island may be the Devon destination grabbing the headlines for the rare birds that end up on its shores, down here in the south of the county we’re also blessed with more than our fair share of natural wonders. A seaside treasure trove Probably my favourite place in South Devon, Slapton is steeped in history and the view down over the bay and the Ley as you drive along the coast road from Dartmouth rivals anywhere in the world.

What do long, lazy days on the beach, magical walks through blissful surroundings and great adventures exploring the wilderness have in common? They’re all, in my opinion, best accompanied by a slap-up meal at the pub or some generous provisions from local producers!

With miles of farmland that stretch beyond the horizon, fishing traditions that have lasted for generations and a growing foraging movement sourcing the best ingredients from the natural world, Norfolk is a treat for anyone who loves food and drink. Exciting local producers are creating bold new flavours, while old favourites are going strong. As for my favourites, I’ll share a few to whet your appetite!
