Walks in Cornwall

From Leisurely Strolls to Day Trips, Cornwall’s Best Walks

With miles upon miles of glorious countryside, world-famous beaches and plenty of natural and historic landmarks to discover along the way, Cornwall by foot is a wonderful experience. It would be impossible to summarise all the walking routes there are in this spectacular region, so here we have compiled a list of five, from shortest to longest, that you can try whilst on your Cornish holiday.

1

Wheal Coates Tin Mine: 1 Mile

Situated between St Agnes and Porthtowan lies Wheal Coates, an disused tin mine that overlooks the sea on top of the cliffs.  You can either follow the main path out to the Wheal Coates tin mine and back, or the way-marked circular route out towards the sea, along the coastal path and back up and through the old tin mine buildings. This walk is lovely and moderate and the sea air will take your breath away, while the sea views do the same metaphorically.

2

Pentire Head Circular: 3.5 Miles

This is a great alternative if the beach at Polzeath is busy (as it often is, especially in summer). If you’re here in the spring, look out for freshly blooming wildflowers as you cross the green and rich land along this route. The views of Tintagel Castle and Doyden are here all year round and are extremely photogenic!

Boscastle to Valance Valley: 4 Miles

This route starts in the charming harbourside village of Boscastle, exploring the cliffs above before heading inland across the Valency Valley and through peaceful woodland, strolling alongside the Valency River. Showcases all the different sides to Cornwall’s varied landscape, this route is one you can really make a day out of.

Rock to St Minver: 6.7 Miles

This circular walk takes you through the dunes at Daymer Bay onto St Minver, where you’ll see the parish’s lovely church, and back to Rock through Brea Beach. This route crosses such a wonderful part of the Cornish coast and is ideal if you are staying in one of our cottages in North Cornwall.

5

Cadgwith Cove to the Lizard: 7 Miles

Our lengthiest route is the circular route from Cadgwith Cove to the iconic Lizard Point and back again. We recommend all our visitors travelling to Cornwall visit Lizard Point, the southernmost tip of Britain, as it looks like something lifted straight from a fairytale. The walk here is equally idyllic, with plenty of wildlife, flowers, rugged surroundings and coastal views that are bound to impress.
